I dunno about all of this but my JB which came out of a Jackson USA JJ1 has a huge bottom end. So much so that I have to use an OD pedal to make the pickup usable for high gain... :confused:

Ian is my favorite guitarist and he made that rig sing. Love the tone.

knowing your taste Giles, I recommend a non-RI Marshall 2203 JCM or JMP with 6550s. I can say for sure that the older models seem to have less high end than RIs do. It may be due to components ageing or something else, but there is a difference.

yeah thats exactly what I did, it didnt crack it. I was careful to leave a good distance from the edges of the brace though

What i did was sink 4 3" brass screws through the back plate, into the bracer in the middle. Made a nice nice difference

Definitely! Now I need to work on my cab or maybe get another one. It does not resonate that well with this amp, used to with my old Dual Recto but not so much with a Marshall. I did replace 2 of the v30s with GT75s. Has more cut and more upper mid range but still I think it could be better.

Nice. I just got a chance to crank my rig up a bit and this made all the difference in the world. MUCH MUCH tighter. I actually adjusted the pole pieces for the 'vintage' staggered setup. Raised the JB way way up compared to what I had before. Turns out that the trem spaced JB doesnt fit...

OK I have a bit more information. Tone pot is a 250k Volume is not labeled but I am reading .560 on my meter the 250k pot reads .240 So I think this means that the volume is a 500k? Tone pot was connected the SD JB is labeled TB4L and is Made in USA stamped on the bottom , I am reading...

Its in a Jackson JJ1 USA. I have 11-56 strings on. Ernie Balls. I think the tone pot is disconnected but I need to check that again. It is a Trem spaced JB since the guitar has a Wilkinson. I tune to drop D or standard mostly. Drop C# for some songs.

Hmm well, I play through a Voodoo Modded JMP Marshall. Should be pretty tight.. I really need a tight sound to get my riffing going. Otherwise I feel like I am fighting my guitar. Back when I had a Dual Recto I had a really hard time getting a tight tone I could use for metal. Sold that thing.
