Good timing! I was going to call and ask about a single-channel JMP amp. Those are the amps I grew up with. Had one as soon as they came out, '75/76. Had 50 and mostly 100 watters.
I'm sure they were 6550 loaded.
Something about this guy always put me off, but recently I got into streaming, and I got his two solo albums and Jesus Christ. The opening cut, it’s got everything you could possibly want a one tune
The MGL is a top choice. I grew up with the 50 and 100 watt early Marshall MV heads, and that WAS my sound.
Even cooler is they do the cosmetics of that head. There was a custom-tolex Blue MGL head that looked awesome.
There are YT demos by some guy named Jordan Steele that are killer.
I gotta watch more videos on the JB 45. That’s an interesting amp. I need a good Marshall style with varying degrees of gain to run my Frank Marino pedals into.
They (Friedman 1x12's) haven't been getting any use since I got rid of the JEL 20 head. I did notice Friedman added a Bright Cap switch for the Gain channel on the JEL 50. I wish my JEL 20 would have had that. It was too bright w/ Strats.
I just got the Synergy 50 watt head. I'm digging that...
I got the Suhr SL67. Might be too close. A JEL 50 is on the table as well. Especially since it's EL-34's and there is now a bright cap switch on the Gain channel.
It's not a scale. If you think of blues that way, you'll never get it. It's deceptively simple, yet you have to come up with interesting phrasing and tone. IMO anyway.
I got a few entrees-
He wasn’t a personal influence to me, but I grew up with KISS music all around me. He was the total rockstar. His style was copied, he influenced many people, that’s all you can ask for as a human being. RIP ACE.
Streaming some KISS tracks right now in tribute
No idea. Half the reason I bought the thing was so I wouldn’t get my head ripped off in a small room. I don’t need tons of volume, and bands nowadays don’t need tons of stage volume anyway. 50 W heads are cool,IMO
