    Anybody own the Peavey 3120??

I don't own one but I think it's an interesting amp. My understanding is the 3120 is a cosmetic remake of the XXX. The Peavey JSX was developed from the XXX. The JSX was then used as the basis for the Peavey XXX II. The three channels of the 3120 are intriguing, but it's a high gain amp. If you...

    Peavey Mini Heads

The clean/crunch foot-pedal control on the 6505 mini is a nice addition to the 6505 line. That gives you better control of clean/crunch/lead on the stage.

    Half-rack Power Amplifiers

I'm putting together a half-rack system using some Rockman Rockmodules that I have. I've been looking at the Gator G-Tour racks. I'm shopping around for some kind of stereo half-rack full-range power amplifier to be part of it. Any suggestions? Thanks, --Bruce

    THE Rockman thread

I've seen lots of discussion about the first two albums in the pre-rockman days. Despite the different stories, they seems to be a lot of focus on use of compression, using a "cocked-wah-pedal" or pre-distortion and post-distortion EQ. I use the term distortion loosely, because that could be any...

    What EQ Pedal to get?

You forgot the MXR 10 band. It's 18 volt though. Some don't like having to deal with another voltage in their pedalboard. The extra headroom of 18 volts is said to make it quieter though.

Peavey guys: Difference in older CL30/50 combo's & current?

I'll put in a brief shameless plug for the Delta Blues 115. A guy named Darren puts it through its paces. An interesting thing is he demos, doing some heavy rock. Given the Blues/Jazz targeting of the Classic line, it's cool to hear the DB 115 thrown into a heavier place. No, I don't work for...

    THE Rockman thread

You're certainly not the first to notice this. David Accomando provides some specific remarks about the mid-range in an article about pre-distortion: http://www.perfectsoundrockrefurbs.com/articles.html#Article%209%20-%20Pre-Distortion%20EQing...What%20gives? In his suggested settings, you...

Peavey guys: Difference in older CL30/50 combo's & current?

I'll take a stab at this. I have a Peavey Delta Blues 115, part of the same family of amplifiers. I think for the most part the newer amps have added improvements. My particular amp has exposed tubes, held in with little wire clips. The newer amps have tube cages and use tube tape to keep the...

    THE Rockman thread

I don't really know what kinds of modifications were used by Def Leppard or ZZ Top. I'm guessing they both eventually used the Rockman Sustainor, a half rack unit. When you use it with a pair of equalizers, you can get enormous flexibility in your sound. The Sustainor has an effects loop that...

The Rockman Stereo Chorus doesn't seem to get the attention that the that the Stereo Echo does, but it's a very nice unit. A big improvement on the Rockman Stereo Chorus / Delay.

If you want to see the Rockman gear at work, Someone managed to record almost an hour and 40 minutes of Boston at "The Forum" in Inglewood, California on 7/29/2014 and put it on youtube: G0UU4yyKmyI Of course, it's much better to see it live. They're still touring ;)

Some of the production runs of Rockman gear were really small. The Pro Bass Preamp and PGE-2 (Studio series) are particularly rare. Scholz really went a different way with the Rockmodules and other gear. It was always intended to go straight into the board. Take a look at the Sustainor. It packs...
