I have serial number 1 of the first version of the event horizon. It is an absolutely fantastic amplifier. It really sustains and sings, and it sounds terrific at low volumes and yet still can cut through a loud band.
And ted is a really nice man who really cares about keeping his customers...
Love em. Nyxl's are excellent too but a bit dear. The regular ones are just fine. Ernie balls are good for an hour and then they're done. Dadarrio's sound good and last a week or two of real playing.
HR+ normal channel is the clean channel of the SLO without the switchable crunch mode. The transformers in the SLO are different as well. Those are the biggest diffferences. They don't sound exactly alike, and the SLO has a bit of je ne sais quoi that nothing else has, but the topology is...
DSL is great for that, but for AC/DC you need to use the clean channel in crunch mode and then you lose the clean channel. If that's ok then you're in good shape, those amps are cheap and sound good.
Well a pad is just attenuation. But an instrument inojt will show your pickups the proper impedance. But if it is in fact a proper "instrument" input, which many interfaces do these days, then just carry on lad you'll be fine.
If I understand you correctly, you're saying the actual recording of the guitar will be a direct feed and the amp sim will come from software like a plug in? If that's the case, the next question is "does your interface have an instrument input?" If it doesn't and only has a line input or mic...
