I want a floor board with 6-12 switches, fx, and midi out for switching amp channels via PC.

I know there is fractal and helix but $1400 is more than i want to spend for some decent fx and switching.

Anything in the $500 range or so?

Most i see dont have MIDI.

Ideas?

Spend $400 more and look for a used Fractal FX8. I've seen a few for $900.

Didnt realize they went that cheap. TY

I have a M13 and used it for quite awhile. I like the layout, customization ability, and amount of FX. I think the FX are fine, the OD's and delays sound good, tons of choices for choruses and phasers etc. Can only run 4 FX at a time. I have an FX8 now.

Line 6 M9 & M13.

Ive read moxed reviews about the effects quality. Any opnion?

They cover a lot of territory and do a decent job. I keep an M5 on one of my boards to handle miscellaneous stuff and it does fine. Phaser, rotary speaker, flange, tremolo, etc. Sometimes I just use it for a compressor or noise gate, it's a swiss army knife. Having said all that, it is not in the same league as the Fractal stuff, not even close. It will come down to determining what price point you're comfortable with.

I think in a band situation the effects are great. As good as any standard pedals from Boss,Digitech ect. It is very flexible using scenes. I used an M13 utilizing 4CM for a short time, used the midi out to switch my amps channels. I could go from clean channel on my amp with verb, delay chorus, then switch to another patch that would switch my amp to the dirty channel and no effects, then another patch I had for leads that would add delay, verb and whatever else I wanted. I liked it a lot, and did away with tap dancing between pedals and amps footswitch.I moved to an AX8 otherwise I would have stayed with it. If your amp doesn't do midi you can get a box like the Voodoo Labs control switcher. Thats what I used and it worked flawlessly.

I have the TC Nova system and that's great, but as you'd need more switches I can only assume the G-system would be even better..

wow, thanks for all the replies everyone, much more to think about.

I haven't mentioned ill primarily use it for BBD style delay, small clone style chorus, and reverb. I have analog Overdrives for the front end.

it seems the best thing to do is nail down the budget first and narrow from there.

I'm currently using a Zoom G9.2tt floor processor for the effects and the MIDI control with my Marshall 30th Anniversary 6101 combo amp. I also use it with a Krank Nineteen80 Jr. 20 watt amp head/ Marshall 1912 1x12 closed back cab. The Krank doesn't have MIDI so I use the Voodoo Lab control switcher box and control the channel switching and the effects with the Zoom G9.2tt floor processor. You can run it 4 cable method, but you will need to lift the ground in your audio cables going to & from the amp or use a line isolator box. You can use the tuner to mute, has IA to the effects if you want to turn the effects on/off within your preset. The expression control/tap tempo works well. I don't use the amp modeling on it. I see the Zoom selling for $200.00 or less, is a very good, useful tool, considering it was discontinued, and was Zoom's flagship model for their floor processors.

That zoom is pretty impressive on paper actually. Cheap on the used market. How do you like the fx? Id be using it primarily for delay chorus and reverb.

The G9.2tt will work well for your delay/chorus/reverb which is what I use it for along with the other effects since I can't always bring my 4 space rack with the Furman PL-Plus power conditioner/Korg DL8000R delay/Mosvalve 982 power amp with me. I also like to use it for effects before the amp, run it 4 cable method, and run the chorus/delay/reverb 100% wet in Marshall 6101 amp's effects loop, then use my effects loop mix knob to set how wet/dry ratio on my Marshall 6101 combo amp.
