It's a cool amp. I haven't quite found my step with it yet. I feel like it has something nothing else in that room has. But, most of the time I'm using it as a clean amp for pedals. The Fender has more pure cleans I want. The Matchless has more chime. I haven't quite figured out how to crank it...
Given I have the option to keep what I want, then all of the guitars Pete Skermetta built for me, the classical guitar I used while getting a degree in guitar performance, my Matchless DC30, Naylor SD60, 100B, iic+ and my 2 Bogner 4x12's (one is V30, one is GB's).
There's an element of modded Marshall in there, but there's also tweed fender and even some Dumble or Boogie style tones depending on how you dial it in. It's more compressed and less raw than a true Marshall. The gain is really addictive and satisfying. It can really fatten up single coils. I...
Nothing. It’s a great amp, especially with a power station. I sold it because the 100b came up for sale. Those don’t come up often. I can get another sl68 down the line.
Looks like these 2 items would be the most direct, and economical ways of doing this.
2 amps into this - https://www.mesaboogie.com/tone-tools/switchers-routers/head-track-amp-fx-loop-switcher-router.html
Then the output of that passes through this on its way to the dry cab...
Not at all what I would have expected. Not what I’d shoot for if I plugged that guitar into that amp but interesting nonetheless. What speakers? If those are EVs that may be a lot of it.
I'd probably need to understand exactly how you're running things, but for how I'm imagining it, the egnater SS4 would do that. It had a line out to feed to the a stereo power amp for the wet. 4 amps could be switched into 1 cab (dry) and then a line out could run to effects to a stereo power...
I currently have a KT75 MCII and I had a 100w EL34 MCII. I greatly prefer my KT75. My EL34 had literally a microscopic range of good tones on the brightness knobs. One touch and it was sludge, the other would tear your head off. The clean channel is an amp unto itself on the KT75 (although I...
Lol. I did mean Friedman. Misspeak (mistype?) Been a long week at work.
Still getting to know the Kelley. How do you set yours up? What speaker cab? Mine's an 80, too.
The landgraff didn’t use an ef86. It’s basically a really tweaked jtm45/jmp/bassman type amp. I was just using the matchless reference because that’s another amp that I’ve found to act similarly with humbuckers at louder volumes. I really enjoy both amps though for what they do (still have a...
I liked it at low to low-mid volume. It had very extended bass and I ran it with the switches in the back (can't remember what they were called) where they ran the preamp tubes in parallel like a matchless. It was very rich. Then I used a dual pedal he'd made for me with a dynamic overdrive and...
Prompted me to seriously think about selling quite a bit of stuff more than think about more buying. My iic+ lives in fear I’m finally going to cash out while the getting is good.
