I owned a Wizard KT-75 and loved it but sold it. Thinking of picking up either a MC II 100 ( EL-34 ) or a KT-150 ( KT88 ) has anyone compared the two and if so, what are the sonic differences.

I currently have a KT75 MCII and I had a 100w EL34 MCII. I greatly prefer my KT75. My EL34 had literally a microscopic range of good tones on the brightness knobs. One touch and it was sludge, the other would tear your head off. The clean channel is an amp unto itself on the KT75 (although I never run it really clean). I just find the KT75 useable in almost every setting where I had to really zero in on something with the other amp and if a single knob got bumped it would be too dark or too bright. My EL34 had C transformers. Not sure what the KT75 has but not those. Maybe that's it? Not sure. But totally happy with the KT75.

Interesting. I've owned three E34L MCIIs and they all sounded phenomenal and had a great sweep through the bright, or any other knob for that mater. Very gradual tone change across the bright knob on all three amps. They have all been V trannies?

Had a 2010 MC100, C trans which are the most ‘Marshall’ of the transformers. Sounded great, easy to dial in. Much better than the 2012 MTL I had, with hollow mids and V transformers. But that’s the nature of the older MTLs. I hear they are better now.

I owned an ‘18 KT150 MC2 and a ‘14/’15 era MC2 at the same time. I actually preferred my el34 MC2 more And sold off the KT150. The el34 had a more aggressive grind to it that I preferred. The KT model was more flat, thick in the mids and a little more tight and bigger in the bottom. Both were great ad the differences were not major, I just felt I had to fight the KT model more to get the sound I wanted. At the time I also had (and still have) a kt150 MTL and el34 MTL….and with the MTL, the KT150 is my favorite, so go figure.
