IR-J or hold out for JEL 20?

Craving a JEL 20 and thought it would be a simple amp for gigs. I used to have a JJ Jr. and a PT V2 but the JEL 20 is more my tone. Wondering if I should get an IR-J in the meantime and use it with my Powerstage amp or just hold off and get the JEL 20?

Dumb question but why do some amps have an XLR out and others have 1/4 balanced out?

Wondering specifically for gigging. Will a sound man have a balanced out cable available at gigs as easily as an XLR connection?

I got a Dual Wreck pedal coming. Strymon Iridium headed back I think....

I gig with an Orange Dual Baby and have a backup. Great sounding amps and I'm really digging the Super Crush 100 and Baby amps from Orange. I starting thinking about a different backup at my last gig and was researching the Strymon Iridium. Don't get me wrong, I think it sounds great but just...

Can Tonex One be plug and play? Opinions welcome

I never really have had the chance to play a Tonex One but thinking it might be a good backup for gigs and an easy/cheap way to delve into modelling for gigs if i choose. I have an Orange Dual Baby (and a backup) i run into an Orange 2x12. I have a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 I could run the...

Anyone use or had a Mojotone unloaded cab?

Was thinking about getting a Mojotone 1x12 and was wondering if the speaker wires have clips or have to be soldered? Also was wondering about the speaker holes. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Any of you knuckle-draggers play thru a Celestion Redback speaker?

I'm thinking about either getting a Friedman open back 1x12 that has the Celestion 150 watt Redback speaker or putting one in one of my 1x12 cabs. I have an Orange Dual Baby amp and using it for gigs with an Orange vertical 2x12 which sounds amazing and fairly light. I thought about even going...

Gibson Studio is gone but hello Gibson SG!

I liked my Gibson Studio but did not like the pickups and had to basically send my guitar to Cedar-Sinai hospital and do a triple bypass to change the quick connect pickups, so I decided F that. I needed an SG and missed having one. As a sidenote, I planned on getting a V or Explorer but did...

Update *** Help me identify this Jackson Adrian Smith guitar!

My cousin had a guitar he has had in his shop for years and I got a great deal on it. Once it has a setup I know it will play and sound great. It says Made in the U.S.A. but my paranoia makes me think otherwise but who knows. I didn't pay a lot for it but would like to know. Thanks!

Metallica Rasta Mon - Jamacian Goodness

I've heard some A.I. and most of it is just goofy. This actually sounds amazing and was cracking me up:

Pedals poppin'? Check your power requirements!

So I was having popping with my Keeley Zoma pedal, running in stereo. I thought it was the different amps I was using, issue with the pedal potentially, cables, etc. I decided to look up the Zoma and saw it requires 150ma and sure enough, I was plugged into 100ms input on my pedalboard. Changed...

Figured out the Orange Dual Baby effects loop issue! Gotta keep the Babies together

If anyone gives a rat's ass, I got a second Dual Baby as a backup for gigs and hooked it up via the 2nd return from stereo delay to second amp return jack. Worked like a charm. Looks like the Orange Baby amps only like to use stereo pedals if plugged into a second Orange Baby amp.

    Orange Dual Baby Loud AF!

I had band practice yesterday and was the first time using the Orange Dual Baby with a loud drummer and bass amp. I just got an Orange V212 cab and so this was the first time using the amp and cab. At 16 ohms, I couldn't believe how loud the amp was. As a point of reference, I gig with an...

Just bought an Orange V212 cab. Light and sounds great!!

I have been using two stacked, closed 1x12 cabs and knew that eventually I'd get an Orange V212. Reading reviews, people seemed to really dig them. I found a used one for $680 and they are normally $1099. The first thing that was great was the weight. Because they are lighter, two side handles...

Saw Kansas last night. Blew my mind how great the songs were

I went to a concert to see Kansas last night and apparently I was clueless on how amazing their catalog was because their songs were almost prog like, a lot of time changes and great tones, etc. If you ever get a chance, give them a listen. Good stuff!

Giving Orange Dual Baby another whirl

I was able to get a Dual Baby and 1x12 for free with trade I did. I'm hoping this one doesn't have the issues my other one did with popping but might be something I was doing. I have two pedalboards and had one string of pedals going to the input and then was temporarily using the pedals from...

Can someone explain this wattage and cab situation to me

So the 5150-III 1x12 cab has a 30 watt speaker and can handle a 50 watt head. Same for the EVH 2x12 with 60 watts total handling a 100 watt head. I was looking at a Bad Cat 2x12 with 60 watt handling and was told it wouldn't be able to handle a 100 watt head. Is there something I'm missing or...

    Heaviest sounding clean boost?

So *Velcro-Fly* convinced me to get an IR-D and a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 and both kick ass! Been really impressed and getting great tones. Like I was telling him, I could use a tad more gain. I'm using my Keeley Noble Screamer and my Griffin Boris to boost and sounds great but need...

Update on Orange Dual Baby Effects Loop Issue

Orange got back with me and said the popping i was hearing with pedals in the loop of the Dual Baby is not expected and unusual so think I just got a bad one. I ended up sending it back but will definitely get another one in the future. Is a killer sounding amp and nice and portable.

Help me build a portable gig rig!

Since a lot of you guys gig and have gigged, I wanted to get your help. Im struggling to find a portable, great sounding, reasonably priced, portable rig. I want something either solid state or modelling and just want to be able to grab a cab and have something small that I plug in. Would be...
