Bumping this topic. My Einstein blew a tube and had to be repaired (all fixed now). Tech still has the amp and he's had a look at it and the noise doesn't seem to be any problem with the amp i.e. a tube or anything. Anyone know exactly what can cause the noise or how to fix? Even if there is...

I read somewhere that he uses a custom wound SD pickup based on JB or Distortion. Someone managed to get one from SD or at least close but they wouldn't say exactly what the specs were

It's bit of a strange amp IMO. The volume taper is too sensitive to be a reasonable "bedroom amp", there's very little range between off and loud. Yet it's not quite loud enough to punch like a bigger amp and as others have said once you have the volume around 11-12 o clock there's barely any...

Judging by these prices you could probably buy 3 real vintage silverbursts for the price of one sig!!
