The standard-sized Mesa 4x12 is supposed to be awesome.

I have a Rivera cab with v30s, built similarly to the Bogner cabs. Sound as good IMO. I also have an old Mesa halfback 2x12 with EVs that sounds great. There are 2 Rivera V30 cabs on GCs website for under 500, both A/B cabs. I'd go for one of those. The old Mesa halfback 4x12s with C90s on top and EVs on bottom sound great also. I did try an old Marshall cab with 65s and they worked well too. But V30s are my first choice.

If you can find one, a Mesa Half-back! One of the best cabs they made imho and they look tits!
As a second choice, I also dig the Mesa Roadking 3/4 cab; with one side closed and the other half open (vertically).

So apparently I didn't read that you already have a Diezel V30 cab..So I'd add a Mesa old school halfback 2 or 4x12. There's actually a 2x12 sale near me in Menomonie on Craigslist for 450.

A good cab with EV's would give you very close to the Whitesnake 87 tone, and a good cabinet with V30s would get you very close to a Metallica tone (I get very close to the AJFA and Black Album tones with this speakers).
The Diezel cab with V30s that you already have might be everything you need.
I didn't like my C+ with greenbacks, and I like greenbacks even better than v30s. But that's just me.
Just make sure you take your time to dial in the amp with your cab. Like the rectifier heads, it might take a bit of time to dial in the perfect tone. But once you get there you'll be amazed!

Thanks for all the replies boys. Tell me more about what EV speakers would help deliver the whitesnake tone.
Pretty sure just the standard EV12L that came in the older metal grill Mesa halfback cabs that we mentioned above. If you look at GC. com or Music go round they should have a few with the bottom speakers being EVs, top usually C90s. If the Bottom speakers look like they have 8 screw mounts they are probably EVs.

Similar situation, I have a Mesa V30 cab & a Marshall G12T75 cab with my JP-2C, and between the two of them I can get most tones I need. Here's a clip I did to compare.

The old EV cab would be a nice 3rd option if I can ever find one for cheap. You can certainly find 1960 cabs for cheap.

Look on the used market, you should be able to grab a Mesa 4x12 for closer to $500. I bought my OS Recto4x12 cab for $250!!!!!

Everyone says traditional but I'm telling ya, my Mark IV sounds AWESOME on this OS 4x12 that I bought. I had an older Marshall 4x12 from the 1980's loaded with old 65 watters. And the IV sounds a LOT better on the Mesa OS4x12 than that Marshall cab. Mesa and V30 just work. MC90's and EVM 12L's aren't bad either.

Greenbacks, H30's, 65's.....better for Marshall style amps IMHO.

I really liked a late 70s Marshall cab with 65s with my C+...but my 74 cab with creambacks not so much.
