I find the HX-Effects sounds great, allowed me to get rid of many pedals; I have specialized pedals for simple rigs (e.g., compressor, dirt + noise gate, noise gate, EQ).

Some Effects in the HX-FX take time to dial in.

I have several patches that capture various pedalboards: 60's psychedelic, 70s prog rock, '80s hair metal, fusion, prog metal, etc.

Sounds great, compact, versatile, convenient

I get trying to replace multiple effects but you can have only one on at a time.... Surely you run a compressor into an OD or use a Delay with a Reverb? Seems like it is more for recording a single effect into a track at home or something. Where would it sit live and be if much use? Maybe for pedals you never really use but for a standard setup, doesn't really fit into the mix for me.

'love the compressor' so you have it before your OD but then you want a delay or a modulation effect on top of it, etc.

I just don't see who it is for really.

GC had a good deal on a Drawmer, 1U compressor but I’ve never used the model before. Unfortunately a good brand name doesn’t always mean a particular model is good so I passed. I couldn’t find a single video demoing it, which made me wary. If someone did a decent 1178 clone in the warm or even KT price range, I would be a happy camper.

I took a chance on a Catalinbread Germanium Karma Suture fuzz in my lot. I tend to strike out on fuzz’s, not being a single coil player but I like the clips I heard on YouTube w/Gibson’s so what the hell..?‍ You could probably build one…lol

yeah .... I can build just about any fuzz out there .... unless it's using " un-attainable " parts

I picked up the following during this sale, coupled with 5% cashback on paypal for this month on my credit card:

90s Bogner Ecstasy 101B
Egnater Vengeance
Carvin Legacy II
Blackstar Series 104-6L6

Empress Compressor - this one was mostly to cross the 499 threshold on the same order with the Vengeance, since that one popped up the night of Oct 24.

Basically all the stuff I wanted to try out but was too cheap to pay full price for.

Hilariously, the Guitar Center sent me a Shiva instead of the Ecstasy. I called and luckily they still have the Ecstasy so they gave me a shipping label to send back the Shiva so they can send me the correct amp. Pretty hilarious mistake, since they are such obviously different amps (the Shiva is white tolex and the Ecstasy black even). So I anxioiusly await the 101B's arrival, since I've never had one I'm very excited about it. I also won't complain too much, since I get to play a 20th Shiva all weekend for free basically (and so far I'm very impressed).

Nice one! I’ve already bought a nice amp and guitar recently so kept this GC deal to smaller stuff. The presence control is where it’s at if you feel you’re not getting enough bite out of the ecstasy on CH 2 and 3. You can set it pretty high. The treble knob is linear I believe, so it needs to be fairly high to equal other amps where you might have it at noon.

I *should* have kept it to smaller stuff too. Definitely no new gear for me for a little while. I actually jumped on the Carvin and the Blackstar early in the sale, so when the Ecstasy popped up later I'll admit I've toyed with the idea of returning those two amps to recover a little bit of cash - but I know myself and I'll end up wanting them later and probably will pay more for them (since they won't be on sale).

I guess just, fingers crossed no major expenses the next two months. Lucky me I already bought my xmas gifts (for everyone else..)
