I don't think anyone here thinks you're dumb. If you're buying these as an investment, I can see that totally. But you're loading them both up on 2 different pedal boards so you must feel they are significantly better than the other more easily acquired overdrive type boost pedals out there. What sort of differences are you hearing with the Klon that other similar pedals don't do for you? I've never played a Klon. Heck, I don't think I've ever even seen one.

One is on my board and the new one I will keep at my place back East. I really like what they do as a boost with my low wattage Marshalls. I have an original Marshall 1974X Combo and two of the reissues and they sound killer cranked up, with the Klon with the gain at 10 o'clock and the Treble and Output at noon they just push the amp over the top in a way thats very musical to my ear. Are there other less expensive pedals that would get me there, I am sure there are but I know the Klon does what I like and I am not scared off by the price as it is easily recouped if I decided I wanted to move it. Its all good, I am not looking for anyones approval just thought I would let this 100 post thread know that I did ebd up with pedal that started the thread.

In all fairness, the collector market works on the mojo and rarity of things. While I have to agree that 1,1K for an overdrive pedal with a fairly simple circuit is comical from a raw practical viewpoint, truth is that these things work as investments, provided you take good care of them. The Centaur's price has been going up over the years so, silly or not as a pedal's price, it is a very solid investment.

Brad, you can obviously put together any combination of gear you want to hear the tone that inspires you. You can resurect failed amp companies, open up high end gear store in the middle of a recession. If you say Klon is the shit, then its the shit... $1100? thats a three-month habit of sugar-free red bulls for me...and all I have to show for that investment are a shit load of empty cans...

Sounds good. I have had experiences where I have heard something that sounded so good that I had to have it and didn't care the price either. I went to a buddy's rehearsal one time and he was using a '69 small box 50w Marshall set pretty clean and using a 1st generation Marshall Shredmaster with it. It sounded so freaking good I had to have that pedal. They had just been discontinued and he and I both knew it. I ended up offering him $100 for it. Then $150. Then $200. Then $250 which he finally accepted. Then he called me a week later to say he had found another on at our favorite local pawn shop for $30.

He was laughing his butt of at me and I couldn't help but laugh too.

Edit: And oh yeah, that pedal never sounded great at all with my rig. Sold it later for $60.
