Your amps and mods are the new Abrahamian Rockstah Mod-5s. I actually own Mark’s #2 ‘ground up’ build on a metro chassis, and there is definitely something ‘different’ - ‘extra’ going on with your builds. I will add one of your amps to my collection soon. They all just sound incredible. So many modders these days cater to the ultra-gain / ultra low-end Drop-Z tuning. Your builds just sound so ‘musical.’ I’m hooked.

I see a spilt/shared cathode push/pull switch.... At 4:05 you step on something, do you have a gain boost footswitchable or are you stepping on pedal there seemed to be slight gain boost when you stepped on it.

What other tone shaping options did you include with this amp, just curious?

Heyboer... did you get the Dagnall C1998 output transformer? Years ago I purchased a Merren Power transformer for my 68 build but Between Ralle great tones with his Heyboer power transformer I just never felt the desire to rip out the Heyboer and install the Merren for a negligible difference.

I re-listened to your vid again and the amp sounds fantastic.

I have built a few Mod5's and they sound great but I really prefer what RT mod Mike does with his amps, I feel they sound as close to a cranked plexi that retains all the feel, clank, crunch and bite of a plexi.:2thumbsup:

Rockstah was invaluable to the EVH search on Metro years ago, it was a sad time when he passed.

I couldn’t agree more. My Rockstah is a very good sounding amp and so cool just for what it is, but Michael’s amps have that something ‘extra’ that I hear in David Bray’s video clips - something more ‘organic’ going on there.

Here's a Rockstah Mod 5 in a 50 watt plexi kit amp that I changed some things in, the original values weren't doing it for me or the owner so I started tweaking.

For EVH it was pretty killer but the owner was a wanted and amp that was easier to play and could do the brootz chuga chugga as well.

He wanted even more gain so the amp was changed to a 2203 with some Cameron values here and there, I don't have any clips of the modded stuff, that amp had a three way cathode switch to provide 3 different values of gain stock, more gain, mostest gain. It was ripping little amp. The owner had a Cameron Ocean as well and another 100 watt 2203 heavily modded to something between an Aldrich, Jose and SLO, one channel was 3 gain stages thru the low input jack and 4 gains stages thru the high input jack.

The Mod5 could do the basic VH tone but it is a little stiffer and seems to be less complex when compared to the dynamics, sag, crunch and as you state(something extra) the organic attributes of a plexi verus the 2203 circuit. There seems to be certain things happening in the plexi circuit that encompasses MOJO.... IMHO

Here my 69 plexi build only using an EQ pedal with a very slight flat boost 9K PAF 78 model

Mod 5 was recorded using a vintage 12K Seymour Duncan Seymourizer II ceramic magnet in the Franky.

Thanks my kind friend!
I'd be glad to build a Plexi for you one day.

No it's not a spilt/shared cathode push/pull switch. :)
At the 4:05 mark I'm stepping on a delay pedal, no boosters in the mix.
I have different fizz cap values on a 3 way switch., a 2 way switch for the split cathode resistor values.
I do things like that all the time when building a Plexi.
I've been using Classic Tone for a few years and only been using Heyboer for a little while now.
I like the 100w OT but I think the "jury is still out " :)
Thank you for checking out my vid.
