People who give a fuck, that’s who lol

My professor was saying to not expect electric as a replacement until there is more money to do so than to stay on oil. That’s all. And it pretty hard argue that. Your little tirades offer nothing pertinent aside from you letting off some steam (pun intended)
You are naive.

And I'd be willing to bet the people crying the hardest about it don't give a fuck.

You using words like “crying” is why I cant take you seriously.
The reason you shouldn't take me seriously is because I am just some random dude on the internet, but ok.

Regardless, crying, whining, handwringing, call it what you like Dan.

“Crying” has nothing to do with what I’m talking about, that’s why I can’t take you seriously.

It was used in reference to the people who are currently trying real hard to get everyone off fossil fuels and to prop up the EV industry. Which was what we were talking about.

So what were you talking about when you brought up the dude who said blah, blah, blah and it always stuck with you ? Drag Queen Storytime ?

I think I was pretty clear about that. He was saying not to expect a suitable replacement for the combustion engine until there is a big enough push to do so, and that isn’t going to happen until it has to happen.

When, in your estimation, is that going to be ?

I have no idea. My professor said it 20 years ago and not much has changed. I said in this very thread that Massachusetts is aiming for 2050, which I think is attainable.
But banning sales of fossil fuel vehicles is much different than banning fossil fuels. That is a much larger and longer process

So by “ has to happen”, what do you mean exactly?

When we run out of oil and gas or ?

Justin Bailey thinks electric vehicles and batteries are renewable energy

Everything is made of plastic. Plastic=oil. Petrochemicals aren't going anywhere until they invent a superior plastic that doesn't require oil. So by default everyone would go with gas vehicles. This is why they want to force it. All it will do is make used gas vehicles worth a bunch of money or if not due to artificially regulated fuel prices people will start car pooling and splitting fuel costs more. Some people will refine their own fuel. There are tutorials and vids on youtube detailing various methods. Regulaton will fuel criminal enterprise and more environmentally unsound means of producing the needed juice.

I think I heard of a “conspiracy theory” that oil doesn’t actually take millions of years or whatever to form. I don’t know and haven’t studied it. I will tell you that I occasionally have to snake my bathroom sink and when I pull it up it has super rich black sludge on it that even smells a little like oil.

Kill a bunch of plankton and other organic matter, vacuum out any oxygen, mix with some mud, pressurize into kerogen, bake at 150c, enjoy.

I have no clue about the viability of creating oil for energy. But I do have a suspicion that small scale nuclear is attainable, relatively safe and could take care of our energy needs if not for the monopolistic desire of the elite to subjugate the human population.

I recall reading about advancements not long ago in nuclear batteries, I believe using diamonds/cz. Something along those lines.

@acceptance Lisa nailed it.

It was discovered decades ago that you can make oil from "dead animals" by squishing them really-hard, effectively.

As to your question about viability, the "problem" is the amount of energy required to apply that pressure. The stuff that's down there now is thanks to the sudden application of a shit-tonne of pressure during and following "the flood". No other explanation can account for the sheer ubiquity and efficiency of the process that had to have taken place worldwide in order to leave the mother lode we now have.
