12ax7 tube rollers opinions needed

V2 usually a JJ.
V3 either JJ E83CC or Genalex.

I am looking for good quality, low noise and reliability with newer made 12ax7 preamp tube

Aware old NOS 12ax7 tubes amazing back when the world was analog. Just looking to see if anyone currently making them comes close without breaking g the bank if buying a dozen or more.

What tubes have you used with good results.

Again, the JJ ECC803s is the closest to the highest value 12AX7's ever made. They are inexpensive. I can send you a new one to try if you like.

Ive always had great luck with the modern Tung Sol 12AX7.

I do see why they are awesome to some. I don't like them in my amps for metal, but they are my go-to tubes for a clean channel

The e83cc is kinda like the regular ecc83s but boosted with a tubescreamer. Mids shifted a bit more towards high mids, thicker, better attack, tight bass.

The mg is like a less metal Version of the regular ecc83s.

Yeah the e83cc is a great v1 tube imo. A bit less gain though then the regular ecc83s. But that does not matter to me in v1.
Better attack than the tung sol imo, but also thicker and a bit darker.
The mg is prob a good choice for a rock tone, metal not so much.

I like the Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+ with an NOS GE 12AX7A in V1 for Marshall style circuits. I know the OP said no NOS, but they are seriously worth the extra money.

Those are just JJ ECC83S. CZ = Czech = JJ.

I try to avoid JJ and Mesa rebranded JJ preamp tubes because I have had so many fail vs other brands. All 7 failed in my Mark VII within less than a year, 2 were bad out of the gate. None of the mixture of Ruby, Sovtek, EH failed me when I replaced the Mesa tubes. One of the bad 12ax7's had an obvious visual defect in the glass that should have never made a basic 2 second inspection.

I've had MAYBE a half dozen JJ ECC83S's go bad in 20 years. I buy them from Eurotubes. The only time I had JJ power tubes go bad, they didn't come from Eurotubes. And I can count on one hand how many times I've had issues with their power tubes in 20 years as well. Many have had bad experiences and swear off JJs, but it hasn't been my experience. I've had more failures with New Sensor than any brand. Even Chinese.

They have great mids. The only reason I like the JJ ECC83S in V2 & V3 is they warm up bright amps, and they're probably the best in a cathode follower position. Much more rugged than Russian tubes in that spot.
