Oh, this is the Major? Explains the 88's and ridiculous voltage. I've been presented the opportunity to jump on the same on (67 or 68). Had a few hole smoked in the chassis. I think somebody installed a MV and set it back to stock. Didn't play it, but I may have to make a move after this.. Thanks for posting! Love the Vai techniques you've got going on.

That sounds so good it's ridiculous. Very, very impressive!

Thank you folks, I really appreciate the comments and kind words.

If I could get pinch harmonics to squeal like yours did at 8 seconds in, I think that's all I would do all day long. I feel like you only hear them with vintage marshalls.

Yeah, I like the way the pinch harmonics sound through this amp, lots of sustain behind the notes.

I try not to do to many, it drives some people nuts. :)

There is NO REASON ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH I would EVER need an amp like that, but you sure make me want one!

Sounds killer! Would you mind posting the link expaining the mods you did to this amp and/or your JMP?
Thanks Mike

Awesome! Both of your Marshalls sound killer. VH tone all day!

Thanks so much for the feedback, you're very kind my friend.

great tone.. so here is a list of the things done, however, I think you updated the slope resistor to 47k right? and something else to V2a?

1. Move the wire from the center term on Vol. II over to the ground lug.
2. Add a wire from the center term on Vol II and join it to both 68K input resistors (where they join) on channel I.
3. Swap the couplers around, .0022uF and .022uF.
4. Mixer cap change from 500pF to 470pF.
5. Remove bypass cap on V2a and run just a 820r cathode.
6. Change bypass cap on V1b to a 1uF over 2.7K cathode resistor.
7. .68uF on the presence control.
8. 100k NFB on a 4ohms tap.
9. No bright cap on Vol I.
10. Lar/Mar PPIMV mod.
11. I like to use a 50pF fizz cap in most cases.
The rest of the circuit is stock Marshall Super Lead model # 1959.

Sounds great!

Are those dimarzio evolutions in there? Hot pickups can definitely change things.

Timmons AT 1, I believe... too hot for me but might be needed to push the preamp a little harder...

I have a Evolution in the neck but the bridge pickup is a DiMarzio AT-1.
