For no other reason than to brag...I suppose....And, to share,... some here may get a kick out of this sort-of antiquity.
My pop's 1959 -60 Stratocaster. (I've been told its a 59, but I've not personally seen the markings under the neck that would confirm that)
Dad paid $75 for it in the early mid sixties at a small music store in Va. He said the body finish was beat all to hell, so he rattle-canned it with a nice red color. Many, many years later, he had a guy try to return it to its original color finish, which is what you see here. The electronics, particularly the switch, and tone pots are a bit sketchy, but the pups work. It's traveled the country, been played on national tv (in the 80's), and stood in with a guitar player from an overseas band that was in the States "touring". Their equipment was apparently lost-in-transit, so they borrowed some gear from my pop's band, which were the opening act. It's funny...dad told me he remembers the guitar player that borrowed it had the longest, nastiest fingernails, and dad didn't want him "scratching the board".
He borrowed it anyway, and dad is convinced the dude scratched his board.
Anyway, I took a quickie photo last night, then had to run out, but wanted to share with you fellows.
ETA: This link will take you to some more photos on PB. I'm not a photographer, and I don't really own a camera other than my mobile phone...these aren't too terrible. https://s800.photobucket.com/user/the_cr ... ster/story
