I’ve been tweaking the amp some more trying to clean up the top end so that it was more defined and less raspy.

Additionally I also did a comparison with and without effects - usually it’s been partially mixed with delay.

The bark knob is in full play here - modded but not thin.

Sorry for the shit playing in spots. Let me know what you think.

Nice tone and riffing.
Thanks man! It sounds like there’s more there under your fingers than there really is. It’s not a forgiving amp by any means.

It’s more soloing than I prefer but I was trying to capture the top end as much as possible to see if there was any residual rasp under the notes.

I also haven’t played in weeks, upcoming wedding and every weekend has been spent doing her majesty’s chores ?

Sounds good man. Reminded me of the 80's Zakk Wylde-like stuff at the beginning.

That’s pretty much exactly what I built that amp and rig for.

It’s an EMG 85 into an SD-1, into the JCM800 with a damage control set to chorus in the loop.

The entire time I’ve tried to keep as much of the original Marshall character in voicing as possible. Also used 6550 power tubes and Greenbacks in a slant cab which I heard was what was used in the studio.

I could probably go G12-75s for more accuracy but the amp makes up for the difference in brightness between the two speakers. Greenbacks also do a great job of sounding cranked at lower volumes.

Sounds like I need to button it up then!

Lol, as if.

Does sound great tho. But seriously...button it up? :ROFLMAO:

Sometimes I'll put all four bolts in the bottom and back panel back on just as a sort of quasi sentry to prevent me from going back in. Knowing full well I will be eventually. My amps need a fucking chastity belt.

Lmfao.

Several of my amps have no back panel and only one chassis screw installed by hand. True story...

Jeremy has seen the current status of this chassis

It’s a wonder it’s not picking up AM radio waves.

Sounds like a great Zakk tone to me. Nice job glpg80!:2thumbsup:

You should give a Boss CE-5 a go to for the chorus I really like mine. Some say the pre-2001 analog CE-5 is superior to the post 2001 digital but I have a 2002 digital CE-5 and I like it just fine. I have thought about picking the analog one up with the bucket brigade chips but the Yamaha SPX90 was all digital anyways.....so YMMV! I have heard great clips from both pedals...........
