Hey Oldmanmetal... for someone who is trying to get away from “Dumble” threads, you sure do mention his name a lot… :loco: :poke:

Ha Ha, Rig Talk has gone Dumble clone. Knew it was inevitable.

This has turned into a cool Dumble clone thread. Oh, and I have 0 modded Marshalls.

Looong story behind that. That is the name Mr. Dumble, TAG, from TGP gave me. If you look it is a Dumble styled amp. Looking at my amp list you see where I stand on this. I have a Dumble styled preamp....Soooo....I just think it is funny to see the Dumble thing leak over here now....I come here to get away from that...

I approve of this Dumble oriented thread.

Alan, your stuff rocks. As far as some of the comments in this thread by certain people, well not so much. A lot of that on here lately. I would love to try out some of your stuff. You have a Twister amp from a friend of mine to modify, I can hardly wait to hear what you do with it!!! Don't let the idiots bother you, never mind I can tell you already do not!!!

Oldmanmetal lets see if I get this right, you use a Dumble style preamp/amp so you like a Dumble clone as your choice of tone, you were nick named by Mr/ Dumble, Tag, someone who I am very glad not to see on RT, BUT you don't want any mention of your obviously favorite amp on RT, where you come to get away from all that Dumble talk, yet you post in a thread the word dumble like 15 times about an amp you have never played or heard, that in fact sounds nothing like a dumble, even though you are convinced it must because maybe during a dumble lovers convention that you attended someone mentioned Carol Ann. I think even more perspective could be had if you posted some clips of your playing and ideal tone.

It is one of the tones I like. Mine is voiced for Death Metal/Modern Metal tones on the OD side, along with the smooooooottttthh jazz tones, and bluzak stuff. I have a large collection of amps, for lots of applications. I just thought/think it is funny to come to RT and see Dumble influenced amps being used, always been 80s type of hair metal tones. I come here, when I get tired of TGP, or a change of pace and post types. People here are less uptight, as a whole. They are Dumble influenced make no mistake, and it is amusing to watch people get so upset when some one posts that one word, Dumble. I am glad TAG is not here either, the name is not exactly an affectionate one. Somone photoshopped that word on the amp because TAG kept calling me that. I just found the whole thing funny and over the top. I requested a Death Metal style Dumble to see if it could be done. This is still a great Dumble thread.

TGP threads can be like reading a commercial because they shield the amp builders from negative criticism which is fucking weak imo. So what you get are giant shill/spam/fanboi threads and honest opinion is suppressed.

How useful is that when you're trying to do research and you get the equivalent of reading a magazine ad.

I do prefer RT for sure, but kinda have to disagree, I think RT when it comes to anything Cameron, Friedman, Axe FX, Fortin or Diezel is the same way. (I dig all those brands by the way) I mean lets be real Friedman posts a picture of a pedal board and people are are like OMG Dave great works as always, awesome, (Dave is GREAT no doubt but cmon it is a pedal board for god's sake). my point was just that the OP dug the Carol Ann and then Oldmanmetal acted like it was a shill thread which it for sure wasn't, he obvioulsy has some reason to downplay the Carol Ann (that seems very TGP to me as well) since he has never played a Triptik. Anyways the Carol Ann rocks I used it for two shows this weekend and it was stellar, the fact that people like his work on TGP doesn't change that. As always sound clips and forum posts are no subsitute for trying an amp in person for yourself.

So you get tired of TGP and come here for a change of pace but you won't shut up about Dumble. Do us all and yourself a favor and just stay on TGP.

alls i know is i took one look at the website and it jut seemed completely and totally uncool from many angles-before this thread was started
it just seemed like a really super commercialized thing compared to how the west coast guy do it
and the amp selection looked pretty weak

I will.stay, thanks. Just funny seeing stuff carry over. Usually it is totally different here with a different set of fan boys, and perspective. If Mark Cameron does.a Dumble flavored amp both boards would.explode. It does appear.the.Dumblizing of RT has begun. The horror evidently.

Too funny. It's an East Coast / West coast thing is it ? I wouldn't know, I'm from northern England.

I do know this:

a) One of the owners of both Friedman and Cameron amps has been carrying our line for 4 years now and is a good friend and I highly doubt he would use any of the TGP adjectives to describe me or my work....lol....actually he'd probably have some quite colorful ones.

b) Dave and myself carry out service work for each other because we are friends, have respect for each other and logistically we are on opposite coasts.

The reality is most people know SHIT about the business, the way it's carried out and the fact there is way more respect between builders than the end users themselves is quite simply ironic.

I've been watching a whole shit fest on boards at times between users of my work and another builders while I've been on the phone with the other builder just laughing with him about it. It's insane.

While I've been over the modded Marshall thing for many years, I respect that guys buy those amps and there is a market. Just been there, done that....in the 80's...because I had to. I probably own more Marshalls than most people on here anyway. However, If a non-Marshall look / feature set and different approach is regarded as 'commercialized' then terribly sorry to dissapoint for not being 'cool'.
People complain if we build inspired amps, people complain if we build original designs. Do you have this much trouble with whiny people in your job ? sucks eh ?

Another thing, seems to me a number of people on here like to complain a lot about TGP, cork sniffing and all that silly stuff. Sure there are some really stuck up infuriating arseholes on there and I don't like them either. They are a total nightmare to deal with. Just seems that this place has people from the opposite end of the spectrum that cause equally as much frustration to the rest of the members.
Personally I have no interest in selling amps to stuck up aresholes just as I have no interest in dealing with trash either.

As for shilling and being protected..... I'm here. If you want to talk shit, bring it on. I'll deal with it directly. I'm hardly intimidated by dumb ass pot shots. It's amusing actually. Makes for a little more color. Please if you do want to take a shot, just have the decency to use proper grammer and spelling. It's hard to take anyone serious if they type like a hormonal 14 year old.
