Too funny. It's an East Coast / West coast thing is it ? I wouldn't know, I'm from northern England.

I do know this:

a) One of the owners of both Friedman and Cameron amps has been carrying our line for 4 years now and is a good friend and I highly doubt he would use any of the TGP adjectives to describe me or my work....lol....actually he'd probably have some quite colorful ones.

b) Dave and myself carry out service work for each other because we are friends, have respect for each other and logistically we are on opposite coasts.

The reality is most people know SHIT about the business, the way it's carried out and the fact there is way more respect between builders than the end users themselves is quite simply ironic.

I've been watching a whole shit fest on boards at times between users of my work and another builders while I've been on the phone with the other builder just laughing with him about it. It's insane.

While I've been over the modded Marshall thing for many years, I respect that guys buy those amps and there is a market. Just been there, done that....in the 80's...because I had to. I probably own more Marshalls than most people on here anyway. However, If a non-Marshall look / feature set and different approach is regarded as 'commercialized' then terribly sorry to dissapoint for not being 'cool'.
People complain if we build inspired amps, people complain if we build original designs. Do you have this much trouble with whiny people in your job ? sucks eh ?

Another thing, seems to me a number of people on here like to complain a lot about TGP, cork sniffing and all that silly stuff. Sure there are some really stuck up infuriating arseholes on there and I don't like them either. They are a total nightmare to deal with. Just seems that this place has people from the opposite end of the spectrum that cause equally as much frustration to the rest of the members.
Personally I have no interest in selling amps to stuck up aresholes just as I have no interest in dealing with trash either.

As for shilling and being protected..... I'm here. If you want to talk shit, bring it on. I'll deal with it directly. I'm hardly intimidated by dumb ass pot shots. It's amusing actually. Makes for a little more color. Please if you do want to take a shot, just have the decency to use proper grammer and spelling. It's hard to take anyone serious if they type like a hormonal 14 year old.

Haven't tried your amps, but based on this response, I'd like to give one a spin :D

Ha Ha, Rig Talk has gone Dumble clone. Knew it was inevitable.

The following is not solelt aimed towards the comment above, but just the whole lack of respect on this thread. I don't expect respect out the gate, but do expect not to be disrespected.

If you think the amp is a Dumble clone then DUMB is a very operative word !!! I'll happily put it up against any of your modded Marshalls. I'm from england dude, I was modding Marshalls in the early 80's because thats what we had to do for real...not because people on here pay $3500 for one and they have become suddenly 'trendy'. We did it because there was nothing else. Actually I saw as many Parks as Marshalls because I am from the North of England.

I'm in business building amps. To be prejudice against any type of persona, musical style, ability or lack thereof is of no interest to me and is no interest to my business either. I think you will find the same response from any amp builder, if they have an ounce of business savvy that is.

I don't care if people hang out on TGP, friggin HC or here, neither do I care if they are rock stars or can only play in their music room before the kids go to bed, neither do I care if they are Dentists, Doctors, Lawyers, <add any other cliche you wish> or they are full time musicians.

If you want to try the amp, then try it and if you don't like it, then fine, I totally accept whatever criticism you have, but if you want to make judgements about me or my products before you even try one, then what can I say ?

I've owned 54 Marshalls including 24 from the Plexi era. I have a fetish for '73 50W JMP's for some reason ......yet...I've worked on 5 Dumbles but I've worked on probably 2000-3000 Marshalls in the last 25 years. Does that 'gain' me admission in to your club ?

Clearly.....I'm not a STFU sort of builder and clearly I detest the dumble association. I've never built a dumble clone in my life, nor would I want to. I don't even really like them. I sound awful through a dumble. THat doesn't mean he didn't come up with some great circuit concepts and methodologies. For that he has my respect anf yes, sure I learned some things from them.

I actually don't know whats worse the snobbery on TGP or the abrassiveness on here. both places have decent people and dickheads, thats life.

I LOVE this passionate response! :2thumbsup: :rawk:

I like your amps for Dumble flavors. They do them well.

Thats cool... seems like you really know Dumble tone and how to get it. I would like to get some of those tones as well. Can you post a clip of you playing getting the Dumble tone?
Dave, Thats not possible unless he has a genuine Dumble amp. Nothing sounds like a Dumble. Nothing

as far as Oldmandumble over there, the thing I love about RT is that once I discover a worthless troll like him, I block him and never see his posts again...like now!

You need people like that to balance out the hoards of lemmings/shillers/fanbots running around all the gear forums with their viral marketing agendas imo.

I agree, balance is the key on any site, butr I don't think you ever really get it because the most vocal end users belong to one extreme or the other.

I just get baffled when the animosity for this is aimed at TGP when it's evidently clear that it happens on this site too.
It's just passive agressive on there vs outright agressive on here, which is a result of the participants and the moderating styles on the respective sites.

As far as Oldmandumble is concerned, he's just looking for a rise. I actually suspect he's probably a cool guy in reality, hence the reason I didn't get too offensive with him. Most people are cool once you meet them outside of a forum.

Thats funny !!!

It's just missing the Robben ford backing track CD on the front cover.

So since I got skipped over I'll ask again, where are some representative clips of these Carol Ann amps that are Marshall voiced?

Hey GreasyGeo,

Whether you find these clips Marshally or not I don't know, personally I think the Triptik is its own thing but it intially started as an idea that came from Alan's 73 JMP which he modded one day for the hell of it and then took it further. To me the Triptik is heavy, tight bass, 3D, sings and growls, has 3 channels, vintage and modern modes and a killer warm punchy clean channel and dual switchable masters. I gig one every weekend and it has been awesome. The clips I did were more what I wanted to hear in an amp are typical of sounds I use in my original project. These were done with the prototype and just channel 3 since the other features did not exist at that time. Here is the link they are the first ones on the site.

I may have checked those out, but I'll check them again when I get home. Most of what I've found are bad Santana wannabees and blues type stuff. I'm a straight ahead rock guy as far as tones go. Not looking for metal type tones. Just open /ballsy/ tight/ not saturated, not saggy/ bloomy crap either.

jharpersj":3h60frzh said:
Greasy it for sure does that. My clips were more on the heavy side but it is a fantastic rock/heavy rock amp with a stunning clean. Here is a link to my band on sound cloud just so you get where I am coming from.

Cool I'll check those tonite..If the dirty channel cleans up with the gtr vol, I'll never use the clean channel. Every multi channel amp I ve had only saw one channel get used. :) I'm lazy.

It does clean up with the vol but honestly I think if thats your thing then stick with a one channel amp. If you were just going for a straight rock Marshall inspired tone I'd say Friedman Marsha BE/C45. For what I do I need a dedicated clean, a mid gain and a heavy channel, and a 2nd master for a solo boost and a nice effects loop.

Yeah I need a loop, 2nd master would be nice. I'm sure the Friedman is nice, but that's not what I'm looking for tonewise. Too saturated.

This has turned into a cool Dumble clone thread. Oh, and I have 0 modded Marshalls.

85% of the guys here crave that VH brown sound, the other 15% is divided among Diezels, Bogners, Mesa. Nobody gives a shit about Robben Ford or Dumble tones. The quicker you accept this the better.

i knew I never fit in here for some reason....i don't like any of those.

GreasyG I checked out some of your stuff awesome playing, really dug it, listen to a few of the Triptik clips that were less heavy, the tones you had on your recordings are for sure in the Triptik.
