2026 Jan Winter Storm Thread

Let's document the winter storm in your area and what hijinx you plan to do. I am in Saint Louis, my plans are to:
1. Do some donuts in a parking lot
2. Open a bottle of bourbon or whiskey I probably wouldn't have
3. Grill pork steaks on my Weber in the snow

What snow activities do you plan on taking part in?
 
Cold n snow in winter who woulda thought ?
Anyone going to the store today is taking their life in their own hands lol.
 
I am 'supposed' to be leaving for a business conference Sunday from the Kansas City Area. Conf is in Miami. There is just enough 'business' to validate a legit tax write-off for the trip, which is largely a chance to decompress and bitch about work. The weather app on my phone changes every hour on the hour from 3-4 inches ("You'll be fine!") to 12+ inches ("You ain't going NOWHERE!!") I figure I will know on Sunday morning if planes are landing and taking off at MCI - and I won't know one minute before...

BUT - Between now and then, I received a bottle four Four Roses Bourbon from a really good client for Christmas and I am cracking the seal this afternoon! Having a nice beverage with what I hope is an extended shred-fest in front of the TV with my Bogner Mini that stays tucked under the end-table next to the sofa.

It is nearly predictable now. Just believe the opposite of the weather people.

"It will snow 10-14 inches!" Nope, it's gonna be 2 inches.

It will snow "2-4, but stay tuned..." Here comes 10 inches.

If I could run money lines on snow forecasts, I'd be a rich man.

salt trucks yes. Where I’m at snow is a rare occurrence. Sleet happens though. When it snowed years back, it was quite unexpected. Texas typically isnt really prepared for such events.
 
Central Indiana. Looking at a foot of snow, high winds and single digit temps for highs (below zero for lows) well into next week. Fuck… I’m going to the store tomorrow, Saturday, my normal shopping day, but now I’ll need to deal with the last-minute weather preppers. Fuck them - plan ahead. Contrary to the doom and gloom folks, we’ll be Ok in a few days. No need to buy 400 rolls of toilet paper or 8 dozen eggs. Me? I’m getting liquor and a couple of whole chickens, egg noodles and the full complement of ingredients necessary for homemade chicken and noodles. Plus homemade French bread. #Sustenance
 
Today: high of 5f but -15 with wind chill and it will last for a week.
Anybody know where I can buy some of that Global Warming? Have cash.
