I've got an EVH 5153 212 cab I run with the mini head.
I've also got a 50w custom head built by Valvestorm...the hod-Rodded, mod5, Jose, vein of amp/circuit. I am going to try to get a 212 for it and I like the evh (I have) paired with it, but am wondering if there's a better speaker & cab match for that type of head?

The evh 212 used at GC are in the right price range....swear to God I hate being eff'n poor   Anyway, I always appreciate the vastness of experienced feedback, expertise, and bullshit

ETA. I mention GC b/c I'm asking for gift cards for Christmas.

Jet City's USA cabs are really nice for the money.

I just picked up and orange closed back today at GC used for $450 :)

Re: Orange 212....Was it the Jim Root I saw on there? I know the speakers are suppos D to be "specially designed by/for orange"....but are they not V30's?

Any cabinet built out of the right wood and proper dimensions will sound fine. Go unloaded and warehouse speakers to keep within budget.

No, this is a regular closed back PPC212 but it sounds killer. I like it better than the EVH and Mesa Rectifier 2x12s that I have.

To the above...if he is in the states, the two mentioned are spendy. Like close to $900 shipped and a 3 month wait

Ok...so the "regular", PPC212 is V30's ( if not mistaken). Does Anyone know if the Jim Root has the V30's as well? Reason I ask, GC has a used Root Orange on there site... I know nothing about it.

And remember, Im trying to pair a cab with a hot rod Plexi style amp.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I really like mesa 2x12 cabs. They're usually decent priced and sound grea .

Avatar cabs are cheap and you can choose the speaker combination you like.

Don't taze me bro...but seismic cabs are bloody good.

It's 7ply birch and really well put together. Metal corners, metal jack plate. I have no idea how they make a profit.

It was better than my mesa 2x12. That had a wierd whistle when cranked.

I'm a cork sniffer. I'm having a top of the line 4x12 made for me with marine grade birch etc. but in my recording booth, among the cabs ive had tuned and tested, my siesmic cab sits with a celestion gold and a vintage greenback in it. I bought it for a temp fix and never got rid of it.

Really....?

I almost bought one a couple years back, but couldn't pull the trigger. I've read "there chepLy made, thus sound like ass..." but I've also read they aren't as realiable for multiple moves, gigging and such, but sound fine. Honestly I don't know if my ear can pick up the differences in p'wood...that said, I like the chunkiness of the dimensions...it's very deep.
