Used Mesa markiv, Marshall dsl50 or 100, and laney vh100r all come to mind. Not sure if you can get a used engl Blackmore for your budget, that would be a cool option.

I sound like a Mesa fanboy, but the Mark V has a great Crunch channel. Then you have your choice between the 2c or IV on the Red channel.

Keep this goin...Im staying in, drinking some red.... want to read some more feedback from you all. Thanks.

Played a show last nite(rare since normally saturdays) ..so beat and nice to enjoy a Saturday evening with a beautiful girl, bottle of red, and a movie or 2. Stay positive, stay inspired... keep rocking my rigtalk friends

If you don't need effects, D120. If you need effects CL50/100.

Ok here's another one..Soldano HR 50 or 100...I picked one up a few years ago for 950 shipped..had the depth mod removed and the mud was gone and sounded killer. They sometimes pop up in that price range, and they are a different take on a Marshall tone(with 6l6 or 5881s of course..) I put a 7 band eq pedal in front of it and loved it..of course a Cameron came up so off it went lol...it never ends.. :aww:

I would hope that Killer Kali++ does not have an off night!!!

The Sig X & Deliverance are not as modern sounding as the Pittbull voice. But like said they do have their own voice. They are voiced to cut & very much reflect what your hands are doing. Very touch sensitive with definition. The Sig X has a lot of voicing options & can cover any range. The Deliverance being single channel is more raw & has more girth.... it also can cover any range - but you can not control the voicing as much as the Sig X. I have both here & in the last several years these are the only amps I use much that can do highgain of the about 20 that are here.

Thanks  Can't I just buy Channel 3 of the VH4 for $1000 :D

You could probably pick up a Mark III for much below your budget, but those amps are getting old, and overhauling might be necessary. I second the Fryette idea. Those amps kill, especially for the used price point-best bang for the buck out there. I love my UL, which is not inside your dollar range, but the Sig:X or the D120 (as mentioned above) would be a fantastic amp second to the Kali, and in your money range.

You still gotta make it down here to check out the VH4!

I would recommend trying a Mesa Royal Atlantic. The Lo/Hi channel kicks some serious butt. I know you're not interested in the clean channel, but the RA-100 has one of the best clean channels I have ever heard.

I agree Gian.. So want to hear the Vh4 and BE in person. I've heard that the Mesa RA is a good amp... not sure if it would be better/worse than a Mark IV...and both can be found in my price budget. Hope all is well .... sounds like you may have some storms rolling thru your area shortly. All the best

FYI there's a DSL 100 and a 1960B in MPLS craigslist for 1200..they both look pretty clean...he's got winged C's in there as well..

Thanks for the heads up

Don't like the Quick Rod and think the Nitro has no "Character?" Perhaps you should look into bass...

Check out Jet City--great Soldano tones to be had on the cheep, and I've not had a problem with any of my three, and I've had my JCA100H almost since they launched. Outstanding for a back-up amp. The other thing I do for a backup rig is use a BOSS Power Stack pedal and an EH 44 Magnum.

After 1 day of hearing and reviewing a bit... here's where I stand today on possibilities.

- Mesa Royal Atlantic
- Mesa Mark III blue stripe
- Fryette Sig x or Deliverance
..........

thanks again for all the input and opinions. keep em coming

I have no problem playing the guitar...lol. Plus, girls don't like bass players   Just something about the Splawn that doesn't sit right with my ears... Its percussive as hell... cuts like a knife(too much in my opinion)... some days my guitar players QR sounds decent... other days I just can't warm up to it AT ALL. That being said, the QR is the best release from Scott imo.

Kinda forgot about the Friedman Jet City amps... may have to re-visit those a bit. Thanks

The winds on those storms were pretty crazy. Good thing it didn't get any worse since it was pretty dark outside. Everything is calm now and the sun is shining. Weird WI weather...

Anyways. I have had a Mesa Mark IV in the past as well. I don't know about better/worse, more like different. For the bands you listed, I would strongly recommend the Royal Atlantic at the price range you listed. The BE-100 replaced my Royal Atlantic, but I would pick up another Royal Atlantic in a heartbeat.

This video is what convinced me regarding the Royal Atlantic

Also check out the BFG modded Jet city...He's got some Killer sounds out of those amps on youtube..
