Now that I've tried one, I wouldn't go with anything else. I really like the port city stuff.

If not though-I'd go Stoneage or find a Mesa used on Craigslist.

Seconded, I've yet to find a 2x12 that sounds better than the Port City. And that being said, I actually like the regular better than the oversized - tighter on the bottom end, sounds like a good aggressive 4x12 and is easy to move around.

Does the ported sound any bigger or are there any advantages that tbe ported has over the non ported cab?

Go with an oversized 2x12, like a Bogner. It will come closer to a 4x12 sound. IMO the 2x12's with less space (air) in them sound boxy.
I'd agree, until they are ported.
John Suhr used a frequency modeller to make the CAE cabs the same sound as their bigger brothers.
The result was a smaller cab with very little weight.
Here's one FS in the UK:

Since you're in England why don't have a look at Zilla cabs?
I have a 2x12 Fatboy (V30's) and it sounds very good.

Winner winner. If you are indeed over the pond, I'd get one. The fatboy clips I hear always sound killer. They are just too expensive here. Paul quoted me $850 with v30's, $890 with creambacks. That is a lot of moola, cuz they are around $500 over there. Shipping is over $300 to the states, which is crazy kinda to pay that extra coin for. But, I would love one.

I have the CAE 2x12 and a Friedman BE 4 x 12. The BE looks the business but 9 times out of 10 the CAE is better for the gig, sounding more than big enough, and can be picked up with one hand and thrown in the back of the car. Would never sell it and damn if I was in the UK would gladly pick this one up for 300 quid. Not totally convinced with the WGS30's that come in them though, quite like Lynchbacks in there.
