WTF is up with the music your demographic listens to?

I played in a golf tournament yesterday with 3 cool guys—had a blast, some good shots some bad ones and a few pops. But both carts were cranking the most annoying dance remixes of popular songs constantly. Just the same dance background with ‘Sweet Caroline’ / Ice Ice Baby / rando Bon Jovi lyrics mixed in.

I can listen to anything on the golf course—country, classic rock, Americana, metal, hard rock, bluegrass, classical, bad ska, the dead….but this was the worst sound I’ve ever heard. Who thinks this is good??

I don't doubt that at all. The only thing good about those remixes and other "club" music is it helps motivate me to pack my stuff up and get the hell outta there when they play it after my gigs.

My trainer plays that shit and I hate it. I wouldn’t even know where/how to find that stuff.

It’s something guitar/music nuts like us are shielded from to a degree if most of our friends are also musicians, or at least cool enough people to like good music.

I don’t have any musician friends, unless you count my brothers and my dad, who all play. The vast majority of people, as far as art is concerned, are cattle brained.

That’s why I have many acquaintances, but very few friends. I have a hard time putting on airs to be around people that are perfectly happy to suck from the tube of popular culture. Very homogenized meaning of life for most folks.

I don’t think they even stop to evaluate if they are really happy, they are more concerned that they are perceived by others as happy, successful etc.

I’m not a guy that is intentionally an a-hole to folks, I can put on a mask and fit right in. Not something I enjoy, however, and it’s energy intensive, so it wears me out. Mainly do it for my wife honestly.

I’m always very disappointed to hear when she thinks I want to hang out with some wine mom she works with, wife believes me and wine mom’s husband are a perfect match to be friends.

My brother is in that age bracket. He’s an airline pilot with a wife and kids, and he has, by his own description, the musical taste of a 14 year old black girl.

Truly a musically lost demographic.
