I saw a few of these at a store the other day. They looked great, but the necks felt so rough and unfinished. Bad fret dressing too. This was the same for all of them. I was very dissapointed.

I only bag on Vai when mentoneman has got my back and Pat's descriptions are so funny I get carried away.
I don't "get" Vai. His playing doesn't connect with me. I would be a schmuck if I didn't admit that Vai has got absolutely sick technique. Plus no one else has ever made clavicle piercings look so cool.

Agreed about the feel, they feel great out of the box and only get better when da funk gets ground into the board. 0000 wooled mine once and let the finger oils do the rest.
One thing about these maple necks some may be forgetting and that is the change of climate, that neck is shrinking during the winter and fret end issues may occur. Very common no matter the guitar or price point.
