Nice. You have 40k to spend. I could have some fun with that.

Guitar rig? I would have Friedman make a rack amp for me, possibly 2. I would use a Two-Notes VB 101 to slave it to the FoH and to a VHT Classic amp. I would probably get an Eventide H8000 for fx, or classic TC 2290 and Lexicon PCM 70. A few Kerry Wright 4x12s with old Greenbacks and Scumback mixes. A few miscellaneous pedals. Luxtone Tele, Strat, Super Strat and a good Gibson LP.

Buy what you really want and dont bother asking people how to spend your money, if you dont really know how to spend that much cash then i suggest saving your money.

40k on just guitars or you outfitting a personal studio?

Key question.

Studios can rack up a hefty bill in no time flat. $40K on gear, you can have some fun with... $40K on studio equipment, you may be limited in no time.

On the flipside, some mid-grade hookers and some blow would always work too. Least you could "pretend" you're a rock star for a weekend.

You could buy 8 of the rigs I saw Michael Schenker out touring the world with and sounding freaking amazing on.

Of course this is just Michael Schenker. If you are talking about a RT forum regular, well, we know much more about gear and tone than Michael, so we can really turn you on to some hip stuff.

However, I don't think $40k is going to be enough unless you are looking for an intermediate sort of rig.

Send me the cash and I'll think about it for a few days and get back to you.

$40,000, naw not going to be able to get much worthwhile for that...probably better dig a little deeper in your pockets :D

I didn't say I have that to spend. I was mainly looking to see what your wishlists are. But ill say I need to put together a small home studio. Was thinking a MAC for around 2500 duet 2 600. Adam7 monitors 1600. Really need help with acoustic.treatment. No idea what to spend there. It's a 12x15 room with no windows in my basement with carpet. No idea what to get for a preamp. Was planning on using logic. Drums I was planning on vst's for drums. I need a bass so 1200 there.

I've lived super simple for 12 yrs and have a small ranch with a basement paid for and drive paid for used cars so no debt. Received some money from a relative and the wife actually wants me to spend a chunk of it on gear. She says I read about it to much here and should actually treat myself. Atm I just have a American strat I bought when I was 15 and a suhr badger and a hot rod deluxe with pedals. I don't really post much cause I never really had anything to add. Just check the forum every day and drool. Sry if this offended a few of you.

After that a few.guitars and amps would be awesome

Very cool. What type of music do u want to create? Or do u want to record others too?

No offense at all, I was just having a little fun at your expense. Heck if I added up everything I've bought just in the last six months (not counting resales) I've probably spent more than half your amount you posted. I've been in that same boat where I inherited some good sums of money and I usually splurged and treated myself with boats or fishing gear and never regretted it a bit. In fact it feels awesome to spend inherited money

Mainly solo guitar work. I really like Guthries music. Sadly I don't have his chops. Enjoy Rick Graham's cd. Also like Satch and dream theater. But I won't be doing vocals cause I'm a terible singer.

I'm also torn between getting a axefx2, torpedo, or make a big ISO box to record without earning my wifes wrath.

Amp wise I'd really like to get a pt100, maybe a diezel and matching cabs. Possibly a soldano. I'd love to get a suhr guthrie and a suhr classic and a good lespaul. I've played a lot of mediocre ones.

first off, 2004 corvette z06 in blue or black

then $10k between roadcases and an SLO-100 or an early 80s jcm800..

keep the rest of cash on more guitar lessons.. gear only goes so far
