I live in Canada if I buy from MF at $799 it will cost me over $200 in shipping, and duty, but I can buy locally for $999 new.
buy the 30 day warranty. Mine broke down while i was recording, real pain. I should mention the matching EVH 2X12 really complete the amp's potential. You might want to think about investing into the cab.GuitarGuyLP":28jzyo45 said:I live in Canada if I buy from MF at $799 it will cost me over $200 in shipping, and duty, but I can buy locally for $999 new.

When you can find them in stock & they happen to be having that particular sale!

I really dug that series, but it wasn't until they put out the GTO The Judge module that I bought into the amps myself. Then they discontinued them a couple of months later. When the first 5150 III 50 watters came in, I have to tell you I wasn't expecting them to be anywhere near as good. But they floored me. I sold my MTS stuff and took home the 5150 III 50 watter. I like the blue channel on the 50 watter better than the blue channel on the 100 watter too. Plus that blue channel cleans up really well with the volume knob. I don't even switch to the clean channel, I just do it old school style and it sounds great.
you're absolutely right. Fortunately for me, I do live on the Green and Red channel. Still looking for a way to make the Blue work for me, especially on a gig setting.madrigal77":12wtzzf8 said:The 50w is ok if you plan on living on the red and green channels. Killer clean tone with a little bit of grit on it. I never eeven switch to the green channel. And I run the red channel with the gain at about 9 o'clock.
That doesn't work if you want pristine cleans though, which is one of the big advantages the EVH has over the Peaveys.Chubtone":3eza5fly said:You guys with the massive volume drop between channels? Yep...that flub drove me freakin nuts! Thing is I LOVED the amp. I loved channel 2 but I just wanted a little more gain and it wasnt happening without the flub. Almost sounded 'octave-ish' it had so much flub. Channel 1 and 3 were perfect thoughKevin11":1nbono4h said:Chubtone":1nbono4h said:And have any of you tried setting the blue channel with the gain at about 11 o'clock (very Eddie type level of gain) and then backed off the volume knob on the blue channel? I have the same issues as Lord Toneking with mine. I can't run the blue channel gain anywhere past 9 o'clock. I'm a product of the 80s, so I don't need super modern high gain, but 11 o'clock is flub city on mine. No articulation, even with Duncan 59s. I wish I could, because 99% of the time, I get my clean exactly the way you say. Guitar vol rolled back, clean with a little grit. As it is, I can barely get there with the gain at 9 o'clock. The 100w is nothing like this and works perfectly in that regard. Going to order and try some different preamp tubes.
Red is a completely different story. Love that channel and like you, get some killer, heavy tones with the gain at 9 o'clock.
