It's cool that all that stuff exists and its something a VH nut like me would listen to but I wouldn't expect much to come from it. Without Eddie the genius is gone.

I think what I'm looking for is a compilation CD package that has even just the most random original riffs from Ed of any sort. Not polished. Not overdubbed. Unfuckedwith. I'd be happy with that. "Edwards Long Lost Tapes" on CD basically.

The computer housed the cataloging, not the music.
The tapes are in fine shape.
Hopeful anyway.

That's what i read somewhere, or heard. O think it was Eddie that said that. Was gonna go through all of it at some point. Guess it might take a while.

I absolutely agree @Tone Junkie but I will say this:

- Wolfgang appears to be completely burned out on the whole topic of his dad and Van Halen in general. He has snapped pretty hard at people who bring it up.

- I'm going to guess that Alex probably has more pull over those tapes than Wolfgang does.

- I've always craved a duet instrumental album with just Alex and Ed. Maybe playing multiple parts and overdubbing but just the two of them

Balachuterium and Respect the wind. Not much drums in the latter but still.

Imagine an album in the style of Balachuterium!!!!!! Man...

I don't think we're gonna get much out of that catalogue. Ed would never have wanted most of that stuff getting out, especially in its rawest form. And Wolf has to know that. I read something from Valerie long ago, maybe from her book, something to the effect of, "People have no idea how hard Ed works to come up with hooks and riffs and only a tiny percentage of them ever make it onto a record."

Wolf did say in the past (on Twitter if i recall correctly) that he would eventually be going through all the tapes and *possibly* releasing some of it if he deemed it worthy, but he was adamant that it would not be any time soon
