Getting out of the Line 6 setup and going back to amp/pedals. I am a pretty simple setup guy but use a mid crunch Plexi tone ala AC/DC etc. quite a bit. Can the 50 watt do that convincingly? I can't seem to find any clips in that area.
Thanks

I'm curious about this too. All the clips I've heard seem sort of fuzzy/muffled. I don't know if that's an artifact from the recording or not. Seems like a great deal on paper but I wouldn't want to be stuck with a "metal" amp.

Yes, the blue channel can get you the tighter defined 'AC/DC rock tone, while the red channel can be set as a solo boost or an all out metal channel. Is it an old Marshall Plexi tone? of course not...but it will work

I'll make you a clip with that tone in mind. Give me a bit.

Cab is important in that...speaker too. I plugged my splawn into my 5150III combo...didn't care for it. Plugged the 5150III into my splawn cab, and it was weird. But the host amps per cab sound killer.

yes. the blue channel will deliver that type AC/DC of tone.

Yes it will. A great set up is a 5150 III with a line 6 pod hd500x using the 4 cable method.

Thanks! I'll look forward to it.
No problem. Fingers weren't moving that well tonight, but it will give you a decent idea. You can get a decent AC/DC thing by using maxing the gain on the green channel or by lowering the gain on the blue channel below 12 oclock, so I did both. Let me know what you think.

There is plenty of room to brighten the amp up with high and presence controls if it sounds dark to you, I personally like a bit darker sound. I used a Schecter S1 Elite with stock duncan designed pickups, I imagine a Gibson SG or LP with a light OD pedal in front would make it even more authentic.

Settings = Bass: 1 o'clock Mid: 12 o'clock High: 12 o'clock Presence 1 oclock Resonance ~1 o'clock
EVH2x12 Matching cabinet with Celestion G12H30s

Green channel, gain maxed

Blue channel, gain at ~10 oclock.

without a doubt, though I think the 100w blue gets a little closer to that tone.

Thanks man! Both sound good. The green channel seemed a little stiff feel wise but the blue tone was really nice. I appreciate you taking the time to make the clips!

I think the 50w has more gain on the blue than the 100w (from what I've heard).

No problem. Yes the green channel probably could benefit from a boost/OD pedal to push it for more sustain, but it can do that "lower" AC/DC light crunch. Blue will do the "Back in Black"/"Highway to hell" rich, full, punchy chords. Blue channel has a great organic, full sound that lets chords ring out clearly.

Red channel will do the metal stuff...but honestly I think the Peavey 5150/6505 does the modern metal thing a little more convincing. The 5150III is super-versitile and has a much better hard rock/classic metal thing which I love and why I prefer it tons over the Peavey 5150/6505. The Peavey 5150/6505 is the one-trick-pony you are thinking of.

True, that's why the 100 gets closer to ACDC

I may have missed it, but what was the volume? I'm guessing lowish as I could hear the pick working the strings.....damn ballsy little amp, even at low volume.

Nice playing also

Thanks, yes it was pretty low volume. You can see the volume knob to left of the green and blue LED light on the amp in the video. It was around 7:30 to 8:00 o'clock-ish. "Television" volume, if you may. The videos are a pretty good indication what it actually sounds like in the room too. The camera/youtube obviously compress it a little bit, but its actually pretty close and it captures the ballsyness and fullness that these little heads pack.

Haven't had the chance to crank it in awhile, but as soon as I have the house to myself, gonna shatter some windows    (and make a video :D )
