Has anyone used a M9 to switch channels on their 50 watt head?
I read someone had problems with latency switching channels with the M13, any truth to this?
Ill be picking up a midi cable on my way home from work tonight... Just want a heads up on what to expect.

I have no experience in terms of Midi switching with the M9, but I had the 5153 50w hooked up to my POD HD500 and used the midi switching and had a good outcome with it.
I wouldn't really expect there to be a 'latency' issue with MIDI for channel switching, but then again, I have definitely been wrong before...

Okay, someone, anyone riddle me this as I HATE my 5150 III 50's shared green/blue controls.

How do I do this with midi? Just one of those midi footswitches (doesn't Behringer make one for like $150) and bypass the provided footswitch for all channels? Does the amp save things, or it is it in the midi telling the amp?

Forgive my ignorance, I never got into midi!

Derek

Update:
I haven't even tried midi switching the channels because the m9 is causing an almost complete volume loss in the loop.
I've tried DSP and true bypass settings on the m9. I've tried straight cables out and in the loop and it works perfectly so it's not the amp or tubes.
Is the 5150 III's loop only compatible with rack effects?
Any help?

Oh and the m9 is working fine in front of the amp.
If the m9 doesn't work out I'm gonna go for a GSP 1101 and footboard but I'm trying to avoid that... financial reasons...

On some of the line 6 stuff, there is a knob to adjust the send signal. Make sure you have that up a bit

You may have to adjust where the pedal is in the settings...I'm not sure how it works for the M9 offhand, but for instance in the PODHD500/Rack/Bean you can adjust whether it's in front of the amp/in the effects loop/direct output, etc. You should probably switch the setting to be in the amp's effects loop if at all possible. Sorry, I'm not super into Line6 gear, although I should be since they had some of the top selling products in the store I worked in

Hmm, I can't seem to find either of those suggestions in the settings...
?

I know this isn't very helpful, but my Line 6 M9 has performed flawlessly in the loop of my 5150iii 100w for the last few years. I don't think I had to change any settings on the M9 itself. Not sure if the 50w's loop is any different.

Thanks... I think it's helpful, I can't image a huge difference in the loops. I cant figure out what's up.

The m9's tuner isn't picking up a signal at all in the loop, so it has to be on the loop send/m9 input side not the m9 out/return side.

Could it be a tube even though the loop functions fine with just a cable in it?

Maybe Ill try my DMM in the loop and see if I have an issue with that as well...

So frustrating

Seems to be working now... BUT, when I switch channels with delay on the M9 I get a clicking sound with delay repeats spilling over... ?
Very frustrating

within the setup mode switching between true bypass and DSP bypass might make a difference to this (ie. put it on DSP bypass)

otherwise i'm thinking the delay is picking up the minute click/channel switch sound and you're hearing that in the repeats

not really sure what you can do to avoid this seeing as the delay is working as it should just repeating/delaying something you don't want to hear

otherwise does the M9 have the latest firmware update? doubt it'll fix anything, but you never know

I've tried both DSP and true bypass, the DSP makes it worse.
It definitely does not have the latest firmware.
