1) heaters PIN layout different (--> diff. sockets needed, only possible in a VH4 where sockets are chassis mounted)
2) used as voltage stabilizer or single ended power tube (when used as SE tube a different output transformer would be needed)
with my very limited knowledge about these thingz ..can I summize from ur answer that it is not impossible [perhaps not easy] to do??.... change sockets , OT , a bit of electrickery & bingo donesky.
Practically anything is possible with enough money and effort thrown at it. The modifications you list are necessary and not trivial, but it's just an amp after all, so yes, it could be done. Schmidt would be even more work than the VH4 because of how the tube sockets are mounted.

yeh i hear that ..anywayz just throwin out a hypothetical.........i was checking those dar amps & those toobz r feckin balistic, i mean they r out of weapons of mass destruction.cheers arno
just outta curiosity did diezel ever consider these toobz as a option??

The mods are possible, but my guess is that it would be impossible to find a tech who would crap out a VH4 just to change it to this tube type. [/quote]
What about if you went straight to the source and have Peter build you a brand spanking new vh4 with these tube adaptions?
May I mention it would be pretty much impossible to find enough of these glasses to ' feed ' all these Diezel Amplifiers... (even if it did fit)
12ax7's were tested and true... for a reason
The equalizer is gonna affect more the tone IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion )
