So I have a bogner 1x12 cab that I need to load with a speaker. My question is should I go 8 or 16 ohms? This cab is for being able to record my brown eye and Shirley more conveniently at home.
Cool. I was just curious as some people say with 8 ohms your not using all of the transformer windings and get a tighter tone. Where 16 your using all of the transformers windings. Didn't know if that was just some bs or if there was any truth to it.
I read somewhere that using a lower ohm speaker allows your amp to produce the same volume but not work as hard and creates less heat.
I can't speak to your exact application but I tried a stereo amp I had through a 4x12 cab with two 4 ohm inputs or one 8 ohm input. When I ran it in stereo on the 4 ohm it sounded slightly different. The speakers seemed to break up earlier using the two 4 ohm inputs.
