This thread is regarding the 9/11 Memorial Museum specifically. But generally we should all recognize the sacrifices from 25 years ago today. If you have a story you want to tell, please feel free to do it here. Please just keep the conspiracy stuff and other bs out of my thread. Create your own if you want to talk about that.

Here is a part of the email I sent my family today. I have 3 boys all grown men now and out of the house. I highly recommend everyone visit this museum. It will bring you very close to this day in time. As close as you can probably get without actually being there.


Attached are some choice pictures I took of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. The underground part that is built around what was left of the underground garages of Tower 1 and 2. Tower 1 has more of how the towers were built or the history if you will. Tower 2 section was more the memorial to those that suffered and sacrificed. I got tears in my eyes when I was picking out the photos and I have tears in my eyes again just typing this. This was when my wife and I went there on 10-10-2022 while visiting our son for his competition.

j. Above the museum at the outdoor Memorial Plaza with cascading waterfalls simulating the falling towers at their original locations. Extremely impactful.

I worked in lower Manhattan in the 90s and left in 1999 to take a job outside the city that would occasionally bring me back for meetings to WTC 2. Last time I was in WTC 2 was December 2000, which happened to be one of the windiest days of the year with 50+ mph gusts. Being in the upper decks of the building, you could feel it sway, sort of like being on a large cruise ship. I remember sitting in a conference room fixated on a pitcher of water that was placed in the middle of the table. Every time there was a gust you could see the movement in the water, and the building exterior made all sorts of popping sounds that were apparently "normal." Leaving the meeting, the elevator banged up against the sides of the shaft as the building swayed and the elevator remained plumb. Again, "normal." By that time, my older colleague/mentor who was afraid of heights was white as a ghost.

Later found out that some of the folks in the meeting that day never made it out.

Took my father-in-law to the museum when it first opened about ~15 years ago. I'm sure it's completely different now but thanks for posting those pics.

keeping the TV off today as i do every year. i dont want to live through it again.

Lost my cousin in the S Tower FDNY. they found a femur bone and some crumbs about 4 yrs later. thats all we buried.
some acquittances as well were killed

FDNY took us to ground zero that Saturday with other families by ferry.

i had fucking nightmares for week. I can still see the flags and sheets covering the dead .
The window curtains in adjacent buildings flapping on in the wind. walking over powdered debris 3 inches thick.
twisted steel. slipping on broken glass, blown out cars. it was horrific to be that close

if one ever lived through he blitzkriegs in WW2 that was as close as you can get

I do light a candle every year in church.

Wow, that is heartbreaking but thank you for sharing. May your cousin and acquaintances rest in peace and sorry for your loss.
