You guys are kiling me. I didn't know what GAS was until I joined the forum world.

So, in lieu of being able to afford a whole lot of cool new stuff, I am thinking of maximizing the junk I have by setting up a wet/dry rig with my Boogies and my 5150 (yes, I am a bee keeper :D ). To do that, I need a good signal splitter.

Reccomendations please (other than taking a sledge hammer to my amps). :gethim:

I used the Whirlwind powered A/B selector for a long time w/o any issues. Its the black jobby with purple writing and will work out just fine. If you wan't to feed anyhthing more that 2 things check out the VooDoo Labs amp selector switch, I use that one to feed 4 amps. Its nice because it has a ground lift for each output if you have hum, quiet, individual level controls to match volume levels...

Why don't you buy my mint Framptone A/B/Y. Best box around...

Steve

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll follow those links after I get home.

Radial already has a link, switch blade. They also make a cheaper a/b/y. It's very well made. That is one I would get, I have seen them for 50 60 bucks.

really, how much should I expect to pay for something that isn't going to suck my sound? I had a pro-co A/B/Y box, maybe I still do... but I thought it significantly diminished the input signal to the amps.

The Star Touch is $85.00, but it's built like the proverbial tank and it's all true bypass switching. I tried more expensive electronic switching pedals (FETs) but they all sucked tone and caused some noise under certain circumstances.

The pro co and the morley are pretty bad, never tryed the george lynch model. You would need to try the radial yourself ,I tried it in a store and thougt it was alright. there are some guys on the web that make passive models handmade, there is always going to be some sound loss no matter what you put in there. The active ones change the tone or conpress it. I use a voodoo lab GCX, the best sound is strait in.

I used the morley and the whirlwind. With both I had to be careful with the grounds of each amp or I got a bunch of noise. I always hated the "pop" or hard sounding switch between my two amps, even the hard switch between channels of a multi channel amp.

Now I use an Ernie Ball Volume/Pan pedal. Using it in pan mode I can smoothly transition between my clean amp and my hi-gain amp. I love it. I can do volume like swells and other stuff. But now I have to carry both rigs everywhere.

I can build you a true bypass a/b/y tank for about 45 bucks.

you rule. I'll be sending that out monday bro.

i ordered a radial bigshot for a wet/dry rig i'm working on. unfortunately it hasn't come in yet so i can't comment on it. i have used a whirlwind aby in the past and it works very well. it doesn't suck alot of your tone and it switches quietly. my problem with it is that i can't use it in an aby wet/dry rig because there's no iso transformer.. no ground lift.. and no polarity switch.. which is why i'm trying the radial. i checked the hc reviews on the big shot.. and while they weren't exactly glowing.. especially in terms of tone suckage.. it will work for what i need it for. i'm taking those reviews with a grain of salt anyway and hoping that if there were issues with the big shot that the company has remedied them. i also noted that the big shot is passive and my past experience with passive devices is that they can suck tone. i hope i'm not disappointed.
