Note how the nut looks to be narrower than the shelf - wonder if they put an R2 on there for some reason, instead of the R3 or R4?
Yeah, they put an R2 nut on these because back in the day that was the only size nut you could get for a Floyd. So if you had a 1 3/4" nut width like this guitar had, it was narrower. It's "historically correct" thing because it is is a nitro relic - which is pretty funny really because Charvels never came in nitro as far as I know. :D I actually had them do it on my Jack Daniels guitar as well because I like the string spacing better (it is slightly different), even on a wider nut width…

Merry Charvel Christmas and HNGD! Very cool. I'm not big on relics but this one looks really good with the exception of the pickups. I have cream diMarzio pickups w/over 30 years of abuse on and they don't look anything like that ;)

I use R2 on all of my 1 3/4 necks. Even my old GMW I ordered with a 1 3/4 neck came with an R2 that I didn't request. Its not about the size of the nut fitting on the shelf, its about string placement for me anyway.

My USA San Dimas has an R2 put on by the previous owner. I plan on changing to an R3 because I LIKE the wider string spacing.

That's the beauty of the Floyd system. Change the nut with two screws - maybe a shim, done!

LOVE it Steve!! I have wanted one for ages, but i can't gel with the 1-3/4" nut width. Other than that, it would be perfect for me! The colour is beyond awesome.

Talking of Charvels.. I actually just scored a brand new Candy Red MIJ SoCal from the last ever batch to come from Japan. Treated myself for Xmas :D Plays and sounds killer!

That looks absolutely sweet dude but it looks like it took a few bumps in shipping.

What I dig about these Nitro Relics from Music Zoo are the necks actually. There are a lot fatter with the 1 3/4" nut width - much different than the Pro Mod neck profile. Now, I know a lot of people like the wide thin necks, but I find with the wider nut width, these fatter necks fell unreal - even guys like Chubtone, who normally like thin, 1 5/8" or 1 11/16" nut width necks, seem to feel at home on these necks. By far my favorite strat style necks… You should try one Dan - I think you'd dig it!

Absolutely! The string placement is what I like as well…

Steve, any idea where they get the crown head tuners for these?
Man, I have no idea, but when they come up on eBay they are always stupid expensive because they are so hard to come by…

I'm not sure about the SD (haven't gelled with new ones), as the one I have in a guitar that I dig, is much older but I bet the 36th Anni will sound killer in the neck.

That is a helluva guitar! Been talking to the Zoo about a black nitro relic... It will be too much with EU taxes and all.. so I opted for a black custom shop from steve and a much lower price. I'v modded it for my liking now, however those nitro-relics are just NICE!

I've been going back and fourth with this for sometime but seeing this; its official...I hate you :D
