Normally I do not sell amps, sometimes just locally, easier for servicing and such, you know . . .

What I do from time to time is to sell the PCBs and the Controller for DIY guys (non profit only - my PCBs are 2.4mm thick, 105µm Cu - expensive stuff - in the 100 Euro area the most).

Just start to build an easy amp and I can send you a PCB, current model is the clone shown here - if I should have remade another "batch".

Hi duesentrieb, well I have seen you building amps and take great pride and advise from Peter deizel... I recently have a VHT classic which is like 20years old....sort of plugged out the old sprague atom caps.. And I have been lucky to find the same NOS Sprague atom.. Which is like 20years of age...

Do you think its better to go with those old NOS caps or just go ahead with the new production caps? I have no idea how much will it affect the tone on NOS and new production caps.... But will these NOS caps fail intermittently than the new production caps having being shelved up for years ?

I would ask Steve Fryette. Just guessing that he may recommend the new caps.

Larry f.i. would probably use the NOS and let them go thru a formation process before using them
(Increasing the voltage slowly). Personally I would go with Fischer/Tausche aka FT caps if their size fits your amp.

Tone IMO is a question of the actual capacitance of the actual caps (or what they had when they were still good)

Hi Olaf thanks for sharing....cause I had ordered and spent 200+ on these old NOS... Was wondering if these NOS life span is as long or good as the new production cap? Yeah I heard many good on F&T caps....

I heard for power supply Nichicon or Panasonic be better as they control tighter ripple effect? Mmmmm am not too sure what that is maybe they talking about a smoother DC output control ?
May I know what's your take on the caps over at the power supply section ? These info I got from audio guys comparing a Illinois to a nichicon... I am thinking to change the caps at power section, am not too sure if it really is responsible for the power section but its an old Illinois 68000uF,35V ..... Am not sure it be good to go with Nichicon caps?
