I don't see how anyone is trying to "impose another forums[sic] rules and" etiquette "on this one." That comment is baffling.

Brad and most of the RT folks have been VERY welcoming and have generally bent over backwards to be inviting and courteous to fellow musicians whose internet home was destroyed. And from what I've seen (I'm open to correction) most of the former HCers here have been very, very grateful and have tried to respect not only the rules, but the traditions/conventions of this forum.

Then dude comes along with this thread, going OUT OF HIS WAY to antagonize folks with any HC affiliation ~ folks who were minding their own business and keeping their "hc stuff" OUT of the main forum here, btw ~ by posting this thread, pretending there was no offense in it, and then whining and crying when he got a taste of his own medicine.

How is that trying to impose one forum's rules on another? I just don't understand where you're coming from... And I'd like to, honestly. As I pointed out, though I haven't been a *frequent* poster, I've been at RT a long time, and I've never had a problem with anyone here. It's in my best interest (as well as everyone else's) to find ways to get along harmoniously, woudn't you say?

There's a lot of wah wah activity going on in here by what mostly appears to be grown men All the guy said was he can't view the HC shanty because the porn filter wouldn't let him. Then it seems like some HCers got all whiney and when on the attack when there was nothing bad said, no insults, nothing. He got defensive, which I'm guessing the first insults were said with the intention of pissing him off so what did anyone expect? Looking at the big picture, who started the arguing? The possibility of that happening may end up being related to the degree of willingness, on the part of RT folks, to realize that sooner or later, WE are going to have to stop getting all pissy about who owns the sandbox and realize that if we ALL share, respectfully, we ALL have a helluva lot more fun.

(I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here, and assuming that you are not *intentionally* implying that there's nothing wrong with "someone mention[ing] HCers being douchebags," as if that's some sort of "fact" that's unimpeachable...)

I wasn't implying anything or doing any name calling, I was just saying that why is it everybody that came over here keeps talking about how bad "HC sucks" and is " a piece of shit" and how they're "glad to be here" but every time an RT guys says something about it there's all kind crying and defensive insults from ex HC guys that claim they're now RT guys. How in the hell does that make sense? If you think HC sucks so bad that you left and came here then why do you keep defending that place? It is obviously a shit hole

Lol, I hear ya. Two things come to mind, in response ~ A) you know how you can say all kinds of nasty things about yer own mother, but God help somebody else who says somethin' about her? And B) more to the point, when the folks who had been posting primarily at HC talk about what a piece of shit it is, they're talking about the *site* and the *administration* of the site ~ NOT the forumites. To be honest, I've seen very few RTers talkin' smack about the HC folks, but the dude who started this thread was not talking about what a piece of shit the HC *site* is; he was talking about what "idiots" the *people* who used to post there are. Do you see the distinction?

Well, all I read in his original post was that he was trying to check out shantytown and he couldn't because the porn filter but his schools computer wouldn't let him. What's negative about that? Then an HCer insulted him for being in school (like it was a crime to get an education) and that's when the insulting starts. The whole time I've been here I haven't seen anyone insult anybody else until the influx of HC guys came here. Interpret that however you want but it just plain hasn't happened and that's a fact. There's been a certain level of respect here and it seems like in the last week or so it hasn't been there.

Nobody is trying to enforce another " ....[sic] forums rules and [sic] edicate." The former HC'ers that are posting in non Shanty Town subforums have, as far as I've noticed, been generally respectful of the existing RT community. However, that has not be reciprocated, as is evidenced by this thread. Instead, we get a thread complaining about the Shanty Town subforum (which, for all intents and purposes, the OP had no real reason to frequent in the first place given his apparent disdain for the HC crowd) coupled with a bunch of subsequent reply posts further insulting HC members. That's not appropriate, it's not needed, and it simply won't be tolerated.

I'd also very strongly suggest that those hurling insults about education, age, and background...on both sides of the argument.....refrain from doing so. Not only is this type of behavior extremely counterproductive, it is also pretty ignorant. I think you'll find that those quickest to revert to ad hominem attacks are those in the least qualified positions to make those types of statements.

Well, from what I've seen certain members of the existing RT crowd are as much (or more) to blame for this perceived lack of 'respect' as is anybody from HC.

theres no reason to finger point - we are all grown men here, or at least the majority is.

this forum will not fall to petty excuses and deviation from what brings us here in the first place. the entire purpose of this thread is rediculous IMHO.

hostility has came from both sides. each for their own reasons. grow up and give this some time. there are more benefits to getting along than people believe.

one of them would be changing the name of the HCAF type section, its hard to welcome new members when they are stamped refugee's before they even get here. this is RT, and if you post here you are an RT member, therefore welcome to the RT community.

Whatever. I'm not getting involved. I think te idea of "forum racism" is pretty pathetic. Luckily it's been pretty rare so far, with the exception of one or two idiots who are obviously hallucinating when they see the site "turning to shit when the dreaded HCAF members arrived" or saying they're "forced to change to accomodate the newcomers". Glad to see 90% of the site sees more sense though. We're all RT'ers here. Not HC'ers. Most of us left that place already.

Also, I go on many sites, and HCAF was the only one that was as rebellious as that. I'm not exactly inclined to post on every other site like some people would on HCAF (hell, even on HCAF, I was never really an arsehole at all either)
