Thank you for making the guitar forums interesting to read again. The interwebz was getting to be a boring and lowly place, but the release of your new more real modeling unit has changed all of that. I've spent endless seconds combing through various fanboi posts crying about their older, less real units being obsolete now that your new more real unit has been announced. I'm also looking forward to the day that we will be hearing that the original Axe FX with firmware v1 was actually the most real version and everyone will be scrambling delete all fo the firmware updates and try to go back to that original more natural, more organic, more sag, less processed version of the Axe. Until then I will just sit back and enjoy all of the comedic gold that your newest game changing most real version that your products produce.

:checkthisout:

I will watch and be entertained as I play my toob amps.

Yesterday it was a great distraction for a Monday back at the office, made the day go by quickly.

It's kept me out of the off topic forum.  It'll be entertaining for months.

Oh dude...it's better than fun :D

I do feel badly for anyone who JUST spent 2k on an Ultra, but to watch the race to sell the newly obsolete units :D is nothing less than hysterical.

I'm waiting for people to start advertising free blow jobs if you purchase THEIR Ultra

People act as though they've never lost a dime on the purchase of NEW gear....gotta admit, I'm a little confused by my fellow Axe owners :D

It's not much unlike all the Cameron mods that came up for sale once it was clear Brad was bringing the CCV to the market except those mods were fewer in number compared to the Axe units out there. It happens with a lot of things but all the bitching over the AxeFX 2 is hilarious.

If Cliff were to send me a message saying, "Shredi, as a loyal customer and early adopter of the original Axe FX, I'm going to offer you a trade-in offer for an Axe II. Just send me your Standard, plus a $500.", I'd be downtown on a street corner with knee pads and mouthwash in hand, doing what I had to do to raise the money.

Well, it's been an interesting ride, that's for sure. I've taken part in several discussions over there, but never from the "gee this sucks you just made my unit obsolete (sic) you bastards" as it was "whoa, you're teasing a massive group of consumers and this 'tease' could backfire in negative repurcussions". It's been a trip. And what's most interesting is the number of PMs I've received from other forumites over there commending me in my honest approach and stance-of-argument to all matters launch.

Honestly I think Mr. Peterson's fnger's been itching to delete me from their site entirely, but after speaking with Cliff and Tom, they get where I'm coming from. Looking deeper into what I've written never once said bad things about the people involved, just my somewhat critical opinion in the way things might end up, have ended up, and have been handled. Whatever.

I've got gear. And I LOVE my gear. This whole FA thing has simply added an element of soap operatic flair to my otherwise mundane inet surfing.

2 girls, 1 cup. The internet is a beautiful thing and a scary thing all in one ;)

Now, when has a new AxeFX update not sounded more realer? With 2.0 and the new G2 modeling, I don't see how it cannot be 2x more realer...at least.

it's technology. I used to buy the newest fastest Apple Powermac every six months when they would release a new one even if it was only 100MHZ faster. The old one would go on ebay, I'd take my losses and buy the new one just to have the fastest. The only time I sold my used computer for more than I paid for it new is when Apple discontinued the Powermac 9600 and switched to G3 Blueberry, I won't get into why. The only men I can see getting upset over this are those who bought new within the last month but I bet most of them bought used. It's not like your going to lose millions to upgrade, geez. men don't even know if the new version is really realer or not. If that clip of the Hoseay Marshall on the Axe-Fx is really version II, I'd hang on to my old one if I had one.
And apparently, some MEN did indeed base their BUY button hit on the fact they'd spoken with FA-HQ and were ensured all was well and nothing new was coming out... This is where some of the potential legal and financial charge back repurcussions are starting to brew.

I heard the new version doesn't sound as good as the ultra.

You can take it from an unbiased source....Scott Peterson...

Regarding the AxeII; It's different. It's clearly a different beast; the in-the-room thing with the higher resolution IR's from the cab block and the deeper amp algorithms equate to an added depth, complexity and 'sing'. It's inspiring - like the finest amps - and will make you smile as you play.

This not just an Ultra on steroids with some physical features thrown in. This is a fully realized and different beast. The G2 (Gen 2) modeling is a head turner. The response to dialing down the guitar's volume is stunning - it still sings and is full of 'juicy goodness' like ripe fruit. The sweet spots for dialing up amp/cab tones is honestly simpler with the new modeling and the addition of physical knobs (five of them; the big value knob too!) makes it as fast to dial up stuff as it is in the editor. It is just 'more' goodness. The new effects are stunning. The whole experience is a different thing. It takes all the strengths of the Standard and Ultra, builds upon them and makes it simpler to both work with and faster to get the 'sweet spots' zeroed in.

That's no hype, no BS. I will be posting in far more detail sooner than later.
This is a different smile. It's bigger and more toothy than the last 11 smiles. It's like the finest amps again and the effects are more stunninger.

I completely agree. Up until about 2 years ago I hadn't played much in the digital modeling realm at all and you helped me by suggesting some plugs and even told me about the 11r and even tried the Axe. At that time I wanted the modeling to sound and feel just like my tube amp which never happened but I did get some decent tones. That said IMHO the Axe was better of all the ones I tried. Since I could still crank my amps at the time I didn't want to spend that much on a modeler. Now I can't crank a tube amp and need to solely rely on a direct solution..... I've let go of the "has to sound like a tube amp" and I'm happy with the Axe.

The main reasons I'm getting the 2 is so that I have something that is expandable and the new hardware features that will make reamping, 4CM, unity gain through out, BMT knobs on the front if I want and using a midi foot controller wile still having the editor open etc. I'm not getting it expecting it will sound more realer. :D

I'm sure glad that all my 30 year old Marshall's aren't obsolete....
