Per OPs comment's this would easily velcro to the back of any head for MIDI:

It's pointless to try to make this list as MIDI has become common in so many amps, and then products like the Amp Gizmo make it brain-dead simple to add MIDI control to any amp that lacks it.

Virtually all heads from ENGL have MIDI, plus their e530, e570, and e580 preamps. All amps from DAR, most from Diamond (I'm fairly sure on this last one)... and on and on...

Is it pointless to have an overview of your options? There are still a great number of amps that don't have MIDI, old as well as new.

As for the Amp Gizmos... They are great products. But I am looking at what options there are, with amps that already have this integrated, without having to spend $229/329 on top of what the amp costs.

I used the RJM 16 when I had a Roadster, which worked wonders, and (I forget his name) the owner of the company helped me out in no time with something I couldn't figure out. Problem sorted. Great support!

Trouble is... A Roadster doesn't come cheap, and then you realise that it's going to cost you at least $400 to be able to control it in an efficient manner. (Not RJM's fault of course... It's Mesa and their stone-age controlling). Not cool.

And that's why I am trying to make a list of the amps available with MIDI.

Diamond amps don't have MIDI. They do manufacture (with RJM) their own Amp Gizmo that can then control the amps.

DAR Forza Quattro has MIDI, not the Tuzzia.

I think the list is cool, but whether or not an amp had MIDI would never be a deciding factor in what amp I would get. Tone, $, would be it. There are just too many ways too control everything these days. I can't imagine giving up my SLO because it doesn't have MIDI and I don't want to spend a little extra to control it.

Not a judgement, just something to think about. ;)

Can only agree with you on this. I would not dismiss an amp merely for this reason, nor sell some of the ones I have got. I think the vast majority of the "best" amps out there don't have MIDI.

It's only to see what the options are, and how little you could get away with. i.e. I know I could do just about any gig with something like the Line6 HD500 (switching off the amp models, and only using it for FX and controlling the amp), and a Marshall JVM Combo.

If it's combo you're after look at Hughes & Kettner Switchblade 100C or ENGL Sovereign.

They are excellent choices indeed

Use an RJM Gizmo for midi control for any amp, without all the logic controllers and switchgear inside the amp.........

RJM makes great products. I had the -16 when I had the Mesa Roadster, which worked great.

Only problem (which is not really a problem at all), is that I like to use as little equipment as possible for gigs, and having a switcher means that I need a rack case or the like...

The reason why I like amps with MIDI (especially combo's) is that I can use a pedal board with a looper (with MIDI also), or a MultiFX with the amp modelling switched off... And have a really simple versatile set up. That way, I got: Combo > Board > Guitar... Done.
Less to lug about, less to worry about.

Of course, if I was playing on a slightly larger scale, I wouldn't mind using some more of my gear live.

There is a small footprint Gizmo version, the Mini Amp Gizmo. You can mount it to a back panel grill or inside a headshell. There is a mounting hole on each flange side.

Like Steve said, you can get MIDI control over any amp. Ron will even make a cable for your amp to interface with the Gizmo. Best customer service around.

Cheers,
Mike

I believe the upcoming Egnater Armageddon will be MIDI-controllable.

Well in that case, I will take your good word for it, and put it on my precious list :D

Mesa Boogie Quad Preamp

ONLY if you use a unit like the GCX, RJM or similar like a breakout box.
The Quad does not actually have a MIDI in or out, just latching switches that can be controlled my a MIDI switcher.

Not true they had a MIDI option on the Quad Preamp it has both MIDI in and Thru, also jacks for the latching switches too as well as Jacks for the FU -2 footswtich or the Abacus. I own both kinds the Normal Non-MIDI Quad Preamp and also the MIDI Quad Preamp.
