What’s up dudes, been awol for a bit. Bought a new house that was a total gut job, so the playing and all that has taken a back seat for a while and I’ve turned into a construction worker. As you can see, the small basement with the kitchen cabinets is finally ditched! When I first was packing up I kind of forgot that I didn’t have an actual desk…

I Highly recommend this desk off of amazon for quarter of the price that the big guys are charging.

Anyway, I also recorded my buddy’s band. Well kind of, some of them were sent over the internet, recorded guitars at my house…
The guy isn’t a tone and amp nerd like me (although he is an absolute monster of a player) but played all of my amps and overwhelmingly chose the Larry Dino with no boost in front going through an 80s Marshall cab. He dialed his tone in and it was my job to do the best I could to make it fit the mix. It’s death metal… so I know it’s not everyone’s deal. But here you go. Hope everyone’s doing well.

I feel as though it does not sound good at all. It sounds compressed, and the drums sound horrible.

The music isn't my taste at all, especially the drum triggers - guitar tone sounds great though

The Larry rips. I know you’ve experienced it, my buddy jamming it said it was unlike anything else as far as being like an extension of the guitar, which I totally agree. Crazy stuff. For tone it just was plug in and mic, wild.

Yeah, what do you do. Technical death metal band hands you probably the most synthetic kick of all time as a reference lol. I know the stuff I play with death metal borders on the clicky kick a bit but I don’t typically push it as hard as I pushed it here. I generally speaking go for something like aborted ish for tone with drums.

Dudes one of the best players I’ve met for sure. I did record another one for them that’s a bit more technical than this one. It does not have vocals recorded yet.
Sounds cool. I'd like to hear it!!

Damn right it rips. Especially for something that technical, the low end is so responsive i'm sure it felt amazing for him - especially as he isn't a gear-head. I'm not surprised he chose the larry for the guitar tone at all, for that style of playing it's going to be head and shoulders above everything, especially with the low end response. And without knowledge of forum drama, you immediately get the "holy shit" reaction from other guitar players when they hear or play one.

And RE the drums - yeah I am well aware this is "genre standard" for the style of music, as far as the drum samples, so I'm not gonna shit on them like brian did lol.

I very much fall into the "Fenriz" camp of extreme metal drum sounds, where I prefer big, natural, Bonham style stuff for extreme metal as opposed to the super clean hyper processed clicky style - obviously, most techdeath bands prefer the clicky style and I know how that goes when your client wants something and you know it's not best for the style.

This is typically around what I go for drum wise with the death metal stuff. Granted I know you hate the uberschall lol
