A new studio setup, Larry Dino does death metal

What’s up dudes, been awol for a bit. Bought a new house that was a total gut job, so the playing and all that has taken a back seat for a while and I’ve turned into a construction worker. As you can see, the small basement with the kitchen cabinets is finally ditched! When I first was packing up I kind of forgot that I didn’t have an actual desk…

I Highly recommend this desk off of amazon for quarter of the price that the big guys are charging.

Anyway, I also recorded my buddy’s band. Well kind of, some of them were sent over the internet, recorded guitars at my house…
The guy isn’t a tone and amp nerd like me (although he is an absolute monster of a player) but played all of my amps and overwhelmingly chose the Larry Dino with no boost in front going through an 80s Marshall cab. He dialed his tone in and it was my job to do the best I could to make it fit the mix. It’s death metal… so I know it’s not everyone’s deal. But here you go. Hope everyone’s doing well.

I feel like I didn't know you had a Larry. I can't wait to try one. Did you make a video at all with it?

Brandon, what's the desk model mate?

Also, does that shelf below slide forward? Looks like it's "height-adjustable," which if-so, is great...

Even though it’s hard for me to get all the way into it , the track gave me an overall feeling I liked. That’s saying something without understanding a single word sung. The guitars are unique in tone that’s for sure. That said, I’d never wait 6 years hoping Larry lives long enough to produce the amp…

I did a while back. In the middle of it where it’s iso tones I do more of the iced earth thing. It’s capable of so many killer things.

Thanks man! My buddy is a great writer I think. Monster player.

The Larry definitely rips. What he liked from the Larry vs how I dial it myself is a bit different. But I think that’s really what makes the amps so incredible. They have so many usable tones to them. So many amps struggle in the mids and only have one usable tone. Larry’s you can scoop them or crank them and it sounds great no matter what.

Thanks Brandon.

I only have 1 concern. I've a terrible feeling it won't be able to support my studio monitors, which are 22kg each, based on a superficial look at the construction / design.

I'll conduct some research to make sure...

Yeah, not sure it’ll support that. Although I will say, it’s more heavy duty than it appears… I was surprised by that. My monitors are I think 15 lbs each or so.

I absolutely cannot condone anyone defending the despicable businessman indirectly mentioned in this thread. Of course I’m talking about Jeff Bezos.

Indeed, it does seem pretty-sturdy.

Watched a couple o' videos and this one in-particular raised alarm bells 'cause the first unit he received had one of those pieces of the surface that supports the speakers already-broken-off. He specifically said that he wouldn't trust it to support 8" monitors.

Thankfully for you there's no problem there.

Here's that video in case anyone's interested:

Hey Brandon, thank you again for putting this option onto peeps' radars.

I'm betting that for most it may well be an ideal option. Looks fantastic as a bonus too...

Hope it helps someone! Shoot I had been going back and forth on what desk to get for a while… so much is so pricey out there. took a bit of a gamble with this and it worked out great.

Yup.

For your lightweight gear it's a no-brainer IMHO, especially at the price.

If it weren't for my super-heavy monitors...

I always forget how cool your guitars are. Sounds great, bud

Man. The isolated guitar tones are where you can really hear how special that amp is

That sounds absolutely amazing. It records well too.

Killing it in the writing and composure area too - let the band know I’d like to hear the online demos when finished too. This is right up my alley.

Mix wise I can’t comment - need stereo headphones for that.

Honestly, It's unlistenable to me. My speakers are disconnected at the moment. I'll check it out later.

This is typically around what I go for drum wise with the death metal stuff. Granted I know you hate the uberschall lol

Idk how anyone could hate an Uberschall, it's probably one of the best amps for metal, if not THE best.

This mix sounds great and so does the Larry, especially on the open Barre chords but id still have chose the Uber over this. Of course different settings, guitar, cab etc could make the difference that I'd want.
