Love APC. Love Tool more.

about time for some new Tool, or is Maynard too busy stomping grapes?

steve

I heard they were supposed to be coming out with a new album sometime in 2010 or early 2011. With the state of the Internet these days it's hard to know what to believe but it sounds pretty plausible   . I've been a hardcore TOOL fan since I was a kid so I always get giddy when I hear the rumors. Hopefully it's good, 10,000 days was ok but I thought it was their worst CD so far. There were some good songs on it though.

I really like APC and Tool as well. Been a fan since Undertow. All that said..... since I discovered Karnivool I don't really listen to either band much anymore.

Karnivool RAWKS as well
Checking them out on youtube. It's...interesting.
If you're getting into Karnivool (which I HIGHLY recommend) you gotta start with Themata and then move on to their newer stuff, which is very strange and much more progressive in comparison. Just buy (or download Themata, the whole album. You will not be disappointed. Songs like Cote and Roquefort are amazing. Oh, and listen with phones or good speakers.

Scarabs is sick too. Almost has a Meshuggah feel to it.

Just grabbed their newest record. Listened to 6-7 songs on YouTube, and dug some of
it.

The vocalist reminds me of me, but a lot better, haha. I've been taking the role of frontman a lot lately, and my vocal style is a bit reminiscent of that. The higher pitch stuff comes from my love of early Coheed and Cambria, but in a heavier context.

The music is very cool, for sure. Hopefully learning some on these songs on guitr will help me write that style of music better, as I've been failing to do so for the last few months. The type of music I've been wanting to create is a little heavier version of
something like this, with a lot of prog. influence, but great meodies too. Like this band, and Opeth thrown together.

Damnit, this always happens to me, hah. I've had this vision in my head for years, and not been able to express it very well. Then I found Opeth (mostly Still Life, but their whole library), and was like "Damnit! There is it!", and now this. Damnit! Haha. It's nice to have
influences, even if you thought of it before you heard the band in question, haha.

Great great band! I agree listening on headphones is great way to listen how much is really going on. For me Karnivool's music is much more interesting than anything Tool or APC has ever done. Tool has just lost me over the years. Not that they are bad band but I've just grown tired of them.

The way Karnivool's riffs flow and evolve from one to another is just so cool.

BTW here is video of one of their shows.
