I know that's possible with a PC and MAME but is there an option for that when using an original Atari/NES/Genesis console into a modern flat TV? I've never owned one o those new fangled jobbers. No need. You just run the scanlines overlay / filter and everything looks legit, just like back in the day.
You don't even need to make an arcade cabinet, that's just the nostalgic icing on the cake. You can just make a control panel to use with your PC or find a cheap used Pandora at a garage sale to use for controls to hold you over. I have around 5000 games on mine. Most I've never even heard of and I haven't even played almost as many as those.Been meaning to make one for 15 years now. Awesome man.
