Wow I'm far safer here in Australia with the sharks, snakes and spiders. What the hell is "vibrio" and how is this a thing?

Vibriosis has been a thing in the fish keeping hobby for a little while now.

You watch your fish disintemagrate and there's sweet fuck-all you can do about it.

IIRC it's not arrived in Oz yet; US-only so far from what I've heard, and even then, it's rare, but lethal.

Doctors are such morons these days. Unsurprising they couldn't figure out what was going on with the guy since they basically work like glorified fast food workers. All their thought processes are dominated by flowcharts the healthcare system has developed, so fewer and fewer of them exercise their critical thinking ability and you get dumber and dumber docs. It's just autopilot of checking boxes through a flowchart, so uncommon causes get outright ignored for a time until the flowchart path they've gone down reaches an end, then they start over, with each path being the 'most probable' cause or issue. Winds up wasting massive amounts of time to make docs and admin jobs 'easier'...while piling on the total amount for the bill.

Were it not so deadly, it would be comical; a doctor seeing an infliction or condition they have never seen before and trying to convince you they know what they’re doing as they say “it could be blah blah blah, I’ll give you these prescriptions and you come back for another appointment if your condition doesn’t improve or gets worse”.
Thanks doc.
