I finally made the decision to start recording my own music again. I started this studio 10 years ago to record my own music and it turned into a career which I'm grateful for but my whole life has been client's music for way to long. A lot of what I produce I co-write and play on but at the end of the day it's someone else's dream. I've had a few songs sitting around half made and started a couple of new tracks from scratch last week. Anyway, I have 5 songs completed musically, all that's left is vocals, mix and master. I start vocals tomorrow. My goal is to have the vocals done by Friday 2/11 and then Gregg Sartiano can mix it and Stephan Marsh can master. I spent 14 hours yesterday tracking guitar and piano, one of the best days of my life. What a great feeling, making music for me!

Here's a couple of vids of drums, percussion, bass, guitar and piano. I will post vids with vocal tracking, mixing and mastering over then next few weeks, I hope you enjoy.

May this album land you a tour around the world... in 30 days.

:D

Awesome stuff as usual James!

I can't wait to hear it all finished James. If it sounds anything like the great clips of the pickup shootout and amp shootout, then we're all in for a treat.

LOVE THAT ANALOG TAPE MACHINE!!!!!! Studer?

Saving up that analog 2" tape for this project? nice!

Did you stockpile a bunch when they stopped making it?

cool man, can't wait to hear it! I was gonna see about paying you guys to teach me how to keep multiple guitar mics in phase, but I think I got it from video #2 - thanks!

I for one have never set foot in a studio in my life so this is just AWESOME man!! I cant even begin to imagine how the heck you go about creating all of this from scratch..... Watching the drummer just go is somewhat amazing from the spectator standpoint dude. For you I am sure its all old hat, but for the middle aged nooob like me, its quite an insight...

Thanks so much!!

Oh yeah I have enough brand new unopened 456 for nearly a decade of recording. All stored in climate control.

Swinging! Be by in a few weeks to hear the progress.

love that BE sound at the end!

how you liking the Orange Rockerverb James? use it much?

Do you have to worry about physically rotating the rolls of 456 every now and then in storage?

So far it's been fine, I do flip them from time to time.

Just spent the afternoon going through some mics and pres, gonna post a vid later. Such a great experience. We also tracked to DAW and tape, so you can watch us making all the critical sound decisions and why. It'll be cool for any young guys just starting out with recording.
