Aah, remember the cheap amps!

I used to see these amps for great prices all the time. Now, you rarely, if ever see them for sale, and gone are the days when you could grab these for $300-500

Here's a list off the top of my head of amps that we used to be able to pick up dirt cheap all day long.

Peavey Windsor
Peavey Valveking
Peavey Triple XXX
Peavey 3120
Peavey Ultra/Ultra Plus
Peavey JSX
Peavey Butcher
Peavey VTM
Madison Divinity
B52 AT-100
Laney AOR
Laney GH100
Laney VH100
Genz Benz El Diablo
Crate Blue Voodoo BV60/120/150/300
Crate Stealth
Crate GX-130
Crate G600
Randall RG100
Randall RGT100
Randall X2
Randall T2
Randall RD100
Rhino Beast/Blackstar
Mesa 50 Caliber
Blackstar HT100
Hughes & Kettner Switchblade
Carvin Legacy
Carvin V3
Carvin X100
Ampeg VL1002
Yamaha T50/100
Jet City JCA100

The next tier were amps you could get for $500-700. Of course there was always crossover. Sometimes you'd come across a DSL for $400 etc..

Marshall DSL/TSL
Marshall JCM900
Rivera Knucklehead
Krank Revolution/Krankenstein
Egnater Vengeance
Mesa Stiletto
Mesa Single Rectifier
Hughes & Kettner Tri-Amp

I'm probably missing a lot. Help me out here!

A couple of things I noticed while perusing Reverb:
It sure looks like EVERYONE is trying to dump their PRS MT100s. Reverb is filthy with them.
There are a few of the Blackstar Doug Aldritch Ruby heads listed for WAY more than retail price. People are fucked.

There was a time not long after the Mesa Mark IV came out that you could get a Mark III for peanuts.

There wss a time not long ago when you could get them both for under a grand. III's would sometimes sell for $6-$700 and IV's for about $8-$900.

The .50 caliber + is a good lower wattage alternative to the Mark series that would sell much cheaper. I had one and loved it... I think the cleans were even sweater sounding than a Mark series.

I'm probably older than you. I remember 5150s and JCM900s for $30-400 all the time in the mid to late 90s.

I'm 54

I did see the odd 5150 for super cheap, but for the most part saw them around $600-700. I bought a block letter for $450 once.
I did see a lot of cheap 900s, but usually $500-600

I paid $200 each for my Randall RGT100 and Rhino Beast.

There's still some stuff in that space - I got a Rivera Suprema combo for $700 and that's a pretty solid closed back two channel with a v30. Not ultra high gain, but in the realm of what it does it's very nice.

How about cheap tramps with expensive amps?

Good list. I’ll add:
Randall RH100

I bought one for $100 and loved it, sold it to buy something else. I still keep an eye out every now and then but they never seem to come up.
