Conflating socialism with those couple social programs is disingenuous and you know it. Trying to use social security to praise socialism is ridiculous. Even if SS wasn’t the pile of shit it is it would be ridiculous.

It's not the first time social programs and socialism has been conflated and every time it's slapped down pretty easy. It's like they think because both contain the same root word (social) that they're the exact same thing when they're clearly not. One is a public works service, the other is government control of production. Not really hard to figure out which one is which.

I agree. Good thing I wasn't doing that. I'll rephrase for clarity: No government is wholly one "style" (there's gotta be a better word for that but I can't think of it right now). Every government has some capitalist, socialist, communist, fascist, etc parts to it.

The US already has social programs (aka socialism) but the right wing are trying to turn the word 'socialist' into a pejorative by conflating it with authoritarian communism (Stalin style) and that's just a lie.

That's what I'm harping on, over and over. You've got people like @The~Kid who've bought into that bullshit with every fibre of his being. You can see his posts where he spits out 'communist-socialist-bagel eater-etc' phrases like they're all the same thing. It pisses me off because for one it's fucking stupid, and I like bagels. Lol. With cream cheese and sometimes with lox. Toasted of course.
