This situation reminds me of lyrics to Children's Crusade by Sting, which was about Britons dying in WWI (and later, present day drug addicts ). This song resonates differently now:

In the UK a thread like this could possibly land you in jail as of late. The country where the Magna Carta was drawn up and signed. But since the US is pretty much POST Constitutional long before 2026 I imagine similar things may start happening here.

Temporary insanity=not guilty. Who wouldn't go insane if someone hurt their kids? Jurors seem to be lenient in such instances. Even if they weren't, the jail time is worth protecting society from someone who will undoubtedly create more victims.
