my first guitar hero. i promise before i began playing guitar—my sister’s nylon string she left around the house—i learned about two hand tapping by bouncing a pick on the neck of my ukulele trying to mimic the notes Ace played on the Shock Me solo from Kiss Alive II which came out in 1977 and i bought on a family trip in the summer of 78. i didn’t dig into van halen until after VH II came out in 79 and i started playing electric in 81.
